New F&P full face mask ("Simplus")

Post by sleepstar » Thu Apr 04, 2013 4:49 am

Hi everyone,
Has anyone had a chance to try the new fisher and paykel "Simplus" mask?
Pretty excited to have another full face mask. There's a lot to choose from with nasal masks but not so much variety with full face masks.
Haven't had the chance to give it out to anyone yet. But it looks promising because it has the same kind of design as their other mask 'Eson'.
Hopefully it is a good one!

There's some info on it here if anyone is interested: http://www.fphcare.co.nz/sleep-apnea/ma ... p-simplus/

Thanks for mentioning this Sleepstar. It reminds me of the quattro FX with the exception of the horizontal bar.

I just did a search on cpap.com and nothing came up. So I will ask them about it.

Yeah, I definitely agree we need more variety with full face masks.

It must be really new then lol. Hopefully will be released in America shortly. I'm guessing it's been released in New Zealand if it's on their site.

Went to to this site and found this information:

http://www.fphcare.com/investor/investo ... s-guidance

""The F&P Simplus mask will initially be available in New Zealand and Australia from April, followed by Canada and Europe and then the United States on receipt of US FDA clearance""

Not sure what the FDA is waiting for since they seem to approve meds very quickly and they have alot more side effects than putting a mask in your face. A big fat sigh!

It's Gov-co (Government Company, just read that as government BS), of course they have to get their cut. It'll probably take 5 years and have a 4 page long disclaimer and warning pages.

I'm guessing this happens with f&p each time. The USA seems to have the f&p eson same time as us so I think it'll be over there not long after

I really like the smaller footprint like the Quattro FX but with the added stability of the forehead support. This could be a winner! Sleepstar, do you have any influence??

Is it "footprint"?

Or "faceprint"?

--face-palm.
It looks nifty. Gotta grease a lot of palms, may take a while.
I'd like to see a Zeo-friendly forehead pad, though.

Thanks for the info, I will watch for this mask to get to market. I would like to try for my hubby, he still hasn't find just the 'right' mask for him. He is doing OK with the Amara, but has red marks on forehead & nose. For the nose he is using the Gecko gel, but even with the Pad-A-Cheek wrap for the forehead section, its still rough. I wish he would try the nasal mask or pillows, but he is stubborn & won't budge, wants a FF mask.

Wouldn't work for me at all. My masks seem to slip down in the night and in fact have tied my Forma forehead straps together to make it go over the top. That with the chin cup on the Forma helps keep my mouth shut and a better sleep. When I used the Quattro I had the straps so tight it really hurt below the lips. I hope F&P never stop selling the Forma.
