Personally, when I fit that mask I usually recommend tightening the bottom straps slightly more than the top straps to prevent the "ride up". Having an extra strap though, would really be helpful. I wonder if ResMed would consider adding a Swift Fx back strap to the Quattro Fx bags?

Super great post!
you figured out the exact mask I scavenged the strapp from, the swift fx. You really know your masks! Hmmm can't imagine why?
It makes sense for ResMed to throw in a simple strapp, wonder if they will.

Simplyme -- thanks for the post; after reading it a few days ago, I scavanged the same strap! How long have you been using this technique?

Several weeks I would say, and it's worked well.

One sugestion I forgot about, I have been meaning to make or get a pad to cover the lower straps and my 'extra' strapp. Just to reduce the lines on my face in the mornings. I just havn't gotten around to it yet. From the good reports I hear about padacheek I bet one could get a cover for the straps with a built in under the chin addition.

I am changing your name. It is now Amazingyou. Last night was one of those nights when nothing was working. I had a piece of ribbon in the drawer of my night stand. I tied the ribbon through the bottom straps of my Sleepweaver Elan and tied a bow under my chin. ( I bet my husband thought this was really charming,) You need to start making and selling bottom straps. You need to be rewarded for your work. I wish I could give you a hug. I have a feeling that a lot of failed masks could have been a success with this fix. Thank you, Amazingyou.

Thanks Stormynights glad it worked for you! I giggled at the thought of what your husband probably thought about your new stylish bow...

OK everyone If I start making straps for under the mask how should I sell them? On Ebay? ... How much would you pay for a soft stretchy slip on strap for your bottom mask straps? Just trying to see if it would be worth the effort to get out my sowing machine... I should anyway to make my strap softer... but I have no one around early in the a.m. to laugh at the lines on my face before they fade, so I have been procrastinating...

Ebay is a good place to start. I will buy one. They need to be reasonably priced but you have to make a profit so it will be worth your time.

My dear sweet wife of almost 41 years crafted one for me using a discarded strap (not anything from a cannibalized CPAP piece of equipment) and then put Velcro on both ends.

Had it moderately snug under my chin and it worked like a charm last night. Mask did not move and I had a superb night of sleep in varuious positions. Previous to this strap, the FX would swivel, sink, or ride on my face.

No mas!

Want to know more? Get back to me and I'll have her on here and she can tell you EXACTLY how she did it.

Asking for help with a leaking Quattro FX in this post viewtopic/t89925/Fighting-leaks-with-Quattro-FX.html, someone suggested this thread. What a great idea. Thanks for sharing your idea.

I was trying to find a strap to use and came across a solution which may help others. I had ordered a chin strap from Amazon which came with two small straps to help keep it in place. It is short and has Velcro at both ends and it works perfectly for this application. Here is the Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007GT ... UTF8&psc=1. For $11.99 it may be worth it for someone who is looking for a quick and easy strap. You will get the chinstrap plus two, smaller straps which are what you need for this Quattro FX fix. And I am not associated with this company at all. Just passing along a tip which may help someone else.

Hi simplyme....I was quite pleased to see your post. Hopefully this is the answer for me. I am a newbie having purchased my machine and Quatro FX mask just a month ago. My problem is the excessive and continuous leakage into both eyes and from both corners of the mouth. At first the mask wasn't too bad but.... as the past 4 weeks have progressed so have the leaks. For the past week or so I have been putting kleenex under the upper straps and covering my eyes. Helps only a bit as air goes under the kleenex. At the mouth....if I open my mouth it leaks, if my jaw drops it leaks. Not just leaks but gushes. The other night I took my mask off and on 3 times within 2 hours. After the last off and on episode I just ripped it off and slept the rest of the night without it. I am getting very little sleep as I spend the night readjusting the kleenex or taking it off and on. Last night the first hour was so aggrevating I got up and read for an hour to settle down then back to bed hoping for better results. After just a half hour I had enough and felt like tossing the darn thing across the room.

While looking at the liner you made I noticed your mask bottom appears to fit in the groove between your lip and chin. Mine sits just where the chin begins.

My test results showed I have "very severe obstructive sleep apnea" with 474 time a night ....approx 50 times an hour. . I have tried every other full face mask they have and this, believe it or not, was the best and easiest to use for me. Or at least it was. I am desperate to find a solution to this leakage problem so I can keep this mask on ALL night.

I'm confused... the link took me to a big honking chin strap configuration... but the photo here only shows a velcro straps.

did I get redirected to a different product?

The link is for a chin strap (so you didn't get a redirect) that the OP took the short velcro back strap (barely seen on the link image) and used it to stabilize the Quattro.
So the chin strap in the link is what he/she already had. The back strap was removed from the chin strap and used on the Quattro.

While looking at the liner you made I noticed your mask bottom appears to fit in the groove between your lip and chin. Mine sits just where the chin begins.
I noticed with my quattro fx ff mask FOR HER the top strap that runs over the head seems a little too tight so I'm always streching it to be able to pull the mask down to where it is most comfortable for me. I have a big head

When you say you're sits where your chin begins do you mean above near the lip or below close to the bottom of the chin? I had a similar mask style before that sat higher on my chin right over the area of my lower teeth, that one leaked more around the corners of my mouth and it hurt my teeth. I would imagine a mask that was too low could also be more leaky. I don't know where it is officially supposed to sit but where mine is now seems good for me.

Another thing I learned that has been discussed by others too, is that you have to make sure the silicone seal is pushed tightly into the plastic of the mask, otherwise it leaks between them.
Hope you can get better seal and most of all better sleep.
