Re: Enlarged turbinates
My ENT said all I will need is a valium and I'll be awake for the whole thing but honesty I'd much rather get knocked out. He is going to do something to help keep the sidewalls of my nose from collapsing on inspiration and the turbinates. But the virus is spreading here in Arizona pretty bad now so...

Re: Enlarged turbinates
empty nose syndrome This is a very bad condition that was the result of surgeries done a couple of decades ago. It would be a rare and very bad ENT who is not fully aware of the side effect these days. ENTs take care not to surgically remove as much turbinate as some did in the early days of the su...

Re: Enlarged turbinates
I also have enlarged turbinates and have really bad flow limitations with my cpap. I was told I need the turbinate reduction and my septum repaired by an ENT a while ago but then the virus mess started and everything shut down. I read up on the surgery and heard about the off chance of getting empty...

Re: UARS(upper airway restrictive syndrome) was making my CPAP use difficult
I also have pretty severe flow limitations according to my data in oscar but my doctor doesn't seem to feel UARS is a big problem to worry about. I am also experiencing similar difficulties with my apap as you. But unfortunately a low AHI is all my doctor is interested in.

Re: Bipap and Apap comfort?
Btw, central apnea is not the only limitation for pressure relief/support. The exhalation pressure is what holds the airway open to treat obstructive apnea. For example, I need a minimum pressure of 10 to prevent obstructive apnea events. With a pressure difference of 4, that means my inhalation pr...

Re: Bipap and Apap comfort?
The Aircurve 10 Vauto is a fantastic machine if you can get it, but it is probably more than you need. But hey, if you can get one, no there are no drawbacks if set correctly for YOU. The Airsense 10 Autoset may be all that you need though. It's plenty for many people. Like @Babydinosnoreless thoug...

Bipap and Apap comfort?
Recently I did a titration study for OSA and I never could get comfortable, especially during expiration. Breathing against the air pressure was extremely troublesome for me. I have been reading that bipap and apap machines drop the pressure on expiration and are more comfortable than cpap in this r...

Re: Well that didn't go all that great/newbie questions
I sympathize with you Bubba. I also had my first sleep study this past week and it was one of the most stressful experiences of my life. I only slept about 40 minutes and had remarkable anxiety for hours until I just couldn't take it anymore and left around 330 in the morning. I don't have anything ...

Looking for opinions on my situation
Hello. I was diagnosed with OSA about 3 weeks ago. I am having my titration study tomorrow night. I don't know how long its going to take for the doctor at the lab to give my sleep doctor the titration results, nor do I know how long its going to be for my next appointment with my sleep doctor to ge...

Re: Type of sleep test needed to be prescribed a APAP machine versus CPAP?
I'm going to try to get the sleep doctor to prescribe me an APAP WHAT, exactly, makes you think an APAP is going to be better for you than a CPAP?? Why not an APAP can be a CPAP aa CPAP cannot be an APAP. What happens when you need more pressure through back sleeping or congestion the CPAP will do ...

Re: Type of sleep test needed to be prescribed a APAP machine versus CPAP?
Thank you all for the replies. I'm beginning to think this doctor just prescribes cpap. Several of my co-workers went to the same doctor and the doctor prescribed them all with the Resmed Air Sense 10 CPAP which I've read doesn't give a lot of info to the user or vary the air pressure. I'm going to ...

Type of sleep test needed to be prescribed a APAP machine versus CPAP?
I recently had a home sleep test and was diagnosed with sleep apnea. The doctor said I had 30 AHI and my lowest O2 level was 70%. The doctor said I need to do a sleep test at the hospital and I'm trying schedule that now. I've been reading this board for a few weeks and it sounds like a APAP machine...
