Zeo Headband - Think I've Got It!

Post by Madalot » Tue Jan 22, 2013 3:25 pm

I've used my Zeo mobile two nights and noticed after the first night that my forehead hurt and was red and swollen in spots. I loosened it the second night but had more trouble keeping it in place with my FFM. And my forehead is even worse today. My hubby said it looks like somebody hit me and it's pretty sore.

I'd really like to get the recommended baseline.

Any suggestions?

Hey Maddy,
I do not have one of those, but I bet if you put anything between your skin and the contacts it would not work as well. Is there any way to make it less tight but still have contact with your head where it needs to?

Sorry my fingers are itching to help make it comfortable and not leave a mark on your beautiful face.
Hugs,

Karen

Every time I use my Zeo it leaves a mark that lasts for a while. I keep it just tightly enough to not be easily moved, and put it on first. It works for me without being painful with my Swift FX, but I don't leave my apartment without a toque for at least an hour after I take off my Zeo.

It was painful, though, the times I used it while trying a nasal mask with a forehead brace. When I did that, I put on the sensor first, then the loose mask, and fit it with the brace on top of the sensor; my head is too small for both of them to each have their own patch of forehead.

Too tight the first night? It just needs to be snug. An allergy? Your not allergic to silver, are you? Something else? Zeo recommends washing the sensor pads in woolite, though I never have. Zeo also acknowledges that the sensor pad pads can be cleaned with alcohol. I have, by soaking, swishing, and allowing to air dry. Didn't seem to hurt it.
Maybe you need to let it rest one night before trying again.

Secure it to you head with ace bandage?

I never had a problem with the zeo. I have it under my headgear and chinstrap.

I'm definitely not using the Zeo tonight and may have to go without the vent as well. I can't even touch my forehead. I don't know if I can handle the forehead support on my mask.

I WAS able to use my mask last night, so that's a relief.

I'm not sure what the heck happened. I'm guessing the Zeo was too tight that first night, but loosening it the second night made it slide when I tried to put on my mask.

I don't think I'm allergic to silver or anything. And I doubt that I can put anything between my forehead and the contacts.

I fear I'm going to need several days for my forehead to get back to normal. Even this morning it is still just as red, swollen and sore to the touch.

I didn't notice you were using a mask with a forehead strap. How do you use both at the same time?

I don't have my mask forehead support very tight and there was plenty of room underneath it for the Zeo. I was concerned about that the first night but was able to get my mask on easily over it. When I loosened the Zeo the second night, the mask made the Zeo slide a bit, but I was still able to do it.

And cosmo, I wear mine just above the forehead support. You need about two finger widths of space to fit the sensor between the forehead piece and the hairline. Another possibility for many masks is to remove the soft support part of the forehead piece and let the mask ride right on top of the transmitter as Madalot has done. The thickness of the soft support and the transmitter/sensor are about the same so it puts the mask at about the same distance horizontally from the face.

This is what my forehead looks like today, this after skipping one night of the Zeo. I didn't realize until I saw the picture that it has all these white bumps on it. Yuck!!

I am going to try cleaning the Zeo sensors and see if there might be something on them that caused this reaction. But regardless, I am definitely waiting for this to clear up before trying again.

When I had a rash like that , but on my back, my doc had me use a cortisone cream (RX)
It worked. Might have to go OTC on the face, and keep it out of your eyes. (call your doc first)
Another idea: someone used alcohol to clean the pads, squeezing out the excess into a cotton cloth.
They claimed no problems, but all the skin oil was out. This might be something to try--once.

Thats exactly what happened to me. I had three of those marks right where the sensors are on the strap. I put it down to being too tight. Maybe the strap got under my papCap (which i wear at the same time).
