Re: THE GREAT PILLOW EXCHANGE
I have a Swift LT medium, and a Swift LT small nasal pillows (both new in package) that I'd like to swap for a Swift LT large.

Some people have good results when using binaural beats on their MP3 players to help them sleep.

Sleep Apnea and Cancer
I saw a TV news segment the other day that highlighted the results of two studies that made a connection between sleep apnea and cancer. The gist of the studies contended that when the body experiences oxygen deprivation during apnea events, it compensates by forming extra blood vessels, which in tu...

Using Swift LT, need recommendation for something similar
I've been using the Swift LT for years & am pretty happy with it. Lately I've developed a small sore in one of my nostrils where the nasal pillow makes contact. I've been treating it with Lansinoh, but think that it's a good idea to take a break from the Swift LT & try something with a different con...

Re: Deep Cycle Home Backup Supply
I like a lot of the designs and ideas presented in this thread, but was wondering if I could get away with using one of those car jumper boxes. I was looking for something compact, convenient, (and inexpensive) that would get me through one night only, without my humidifier. Do those jump boxes have...

Re: Nose bleed
I experienced similar problems early in my CPAP days. The inside passages of my sinuses and my septum are fairly irregular. This has resulted in my nasal pillows giving a focused blast of air on one particularly sensitive spot. The result has been almost like a wind burn giving me a very runny nose ...

Re: Humidifier questions from a new user
Just a relatively small amount of temperature increase is all that's needed for the water in the reservoir to be more inclined to become vapor. At setting 2-3 you may not have noticed any easily detectible change in temperature, but the most important factor was how you felt in the morning. Did your...

Re: Cleaning machines, masks and parts
For my big break-down cleanings I use Neutrogena soap and hot water. For my daily maintenance cleanings I use a SoClean sanitizing device.

Re: Full face mask, oral-only mask? Recommendation?
I could see where jumping to a full-face or oral mask for just a couple nights could be tricky. I was thinking if it came to that, I could plug or tape my nostrils shut to insure mouth-only breathing. I'm just trying to find some kind of alternative for those times when nasal breathing is out of the...

Full face mask, oral-only mask? Recommendation?
For the first time in a really long while I got such a nasty cold that I couldn't use my nasal pillows. I wished that I had some kind of back-up, like a full face mask or something along those lines. Any recommendations? I don't have any experience with anything other than nasal pillows. I noticed t...

Re: Ever have this sinus issue? If so, how did you fix it?
Sorry if I didn't make it clear...I'm doing pretty good with my CPAP and sinus issues. All the things that were mentioned really helped. Just today the problem cropped up again due to a stay in the hospital and the use of oxygen blasting up my sinuses. So in the end, is this thing all about dry air ...

Ever have this sinus issue? If so, how did you fix it?
In my early days of CPAP, before I fully appreciated how important the heated humidifier was, I'd occasionally get an annoying sinus condition: One nostril would develop a pulsing, sharp pain. This would be accompanied by a very runny nose, sneezing. and even my eye on that particular side would clo...

Re: New Here Been Getting Sinus Infections from Machine
Three things have helped me to deal with the sinus issues that I believe were connected to CPAP use: 1) Always using my CPAP humidifier, even in summer. 2) Using a SoClean unit to keep my equipment sanitized. 3) Using a neti pot when my sinuses feel particularly vulnerable.

Re: sanitizer machines
I've been running a SoClean daily for over a year now & am completely happy with it. From the research I've been able to do, it appears that ozone has the ability to kill any kind of living organism that might be present in my CPAP equipment. I don't have any kind of measuring equipment, so I really...

Guidelines for sizing nasal pillows?
What is a good approach for determining the size of nasal pillows? I always tried to go with the largest size I could fit, so I'd get the most air flow. Right now I use a size large, which seems to match pretty closely the opening of my nostrils, but I occasionally get a sore spot that I think is th...
