Re: Introductions - help with breathing - arrousal
Actually those that do get lucky enough to feel marked improvement pretty much immediately are in a minority. Hi, I was lucky enough to feel dramatic improvement day one. However, that only took me from "near death" up to "pretty awful". I then had to work my way up through "terrible", "yucky", "ic...

Re: Help figuring out SleepHead data!
Hi, I think it shows an AHI of 1.1, which is very good. There are very few of the "bad" types of events. Only a few apnea and hypos, and a few odd of the other events. Most of the items that are flagged are snores. There is debate on how serious snores are. Some sleep doctors think that any snoring ...

Re: Hello from a noob with questions :)
After several nights using the S9, looks like my average pressure is 9cm, AHI when using S9 between 0.1 - 0.3. Hi, If those AHI numbers are real-world (ie, you are not leaking too much to invalidate the data), then you are doing outstanding. The bigger question then is how do you feel? A week or tw...

Re: What were you, and what are you now?
Hi,
I was over 100, but even worse, my O2 levels were down in the 60% range. Today, I am consistently around an AHI of 1.2, and my O2 level never drops below 98%. My AHI is mostly hypos. It is rare for me to record more than one full apnea event per week.

Re: Autoset - do I need a titration study?
I thought the machine was "auto" - sets the pressure according to your needs. Hi, Yes, the machine is auto-adjusting. The adjustments are made by a computer, but that computer has two issues. First, it has very limited data. All it knows is the air that is going out the hose. It doesn't know your b...

Re: Switched from CPAP to APAP
Harold, That sounds like an excellent idea. Let us know how it goes. As it turns out, that lower number is the single most important number when it comes to APAP. In most cases, the upper number can be just about anything as long as it is higher than what you need for a max pressure. Keeping it at 2...

Re: First week on CPAP - the good and the not so good
This morning my husband woke me up saying "your machine isn't working" because he couldn't hear a thing - I had to take the mask off to show him it was indeed on. Jen, You have a keeper for a husband...it is sweet that he is so concerned about you, and accepting and supportive of getting started wi...

Re: Support
Checked my stats from last night and based on when I put the mask on, I had 4 1/2 hours. But I fell asleep before I put it on. Dan, Was falling asleep without it a one-time thing? Or are you new and having some struggles getting used to using it? One thing that helps is making a personal commitment...

Re: New Member "bummed" following trituation study
I did eventually get some sleep later on. I don't think it was more that 2 hours in total. Mike, The only goal of a titration study is to find a pressure that works for you during different sleep phases. You getting any real sleep is not even a secondary goal. If they nail your pressure right away,...

Re: Tired after new machine?
I'm still running at a 95% pressure of 8.92 and I had an AHI of 5 at one moment. The max is 9. Should I increase that to 10 or so? Hi, The high number can really be anything as long as it is above the highest pressure that you need for treatment. The only way to know is to look at your data downloa...

I would like to hear from others who are successfully treating UARS -- what methods you used... Hi, When I was losing weight, my OSA became much less of an issue, allowing me to learn that I had UARS hiding behind the OSA. UARS was my primary issue for about a year. The only way I found to deal wit...

Re: I need serious help with my CPAP therapy
Any comments? I think I need a new sleep study with an RT doing the study real familiar with Resmed VPAPs. Im wondering if the trigger and cycle and Ti Max and Ti Min need to be individualized for ME in a titrated sleep study. Eric, I agree. It is not unusual to need follow up titration studies aft...

3) I seem to be having some issues with being on CPAP in that I am constantly worried my young kids will be afraid of me...that my wife is effected by the mask...they are nothing but supportive and expressed joy that I am finally getting help now...I guess I just kind of needed to say this to someo...

Re: Taping mouth
… it's safe, especially if you fold over a 1/8" edge at one end (of a horizontal taping) for a quick release grab. Hi, I use tape every hight. I would go so far as to say it is safe. It has risks. But everything in life has risks. You have to compare the risks and make the best decision. For me, it...
