Compare a Resmed Autoset S9 vs S10

Post by rosacer » Wed Dec 28, 2016 2:49 pm

Hi Guys,

Here me again with a complicated question

Could somebody tell me if there is a big difference between a S9 and a S10 both autoset, on the way how do you feel them when delivering pressure? I mean when you use them do you feel a difference?

For good or for bad, I feel everything , I'm thinking at replacing one of my S9s (I have two) because there is one whom I think the ambient humidity sensor is not working as intended. I made some research and it seems it would cost several hundreds (expensive I was told) to repair the machine which has almost 10,000 hours. I also noticed the S9 seems to be out of stock = old machine now, so not sure if it would be a good thing to buy a S10 or another S9.

For sure there are good things to buy the same: I have already 2 humidifiers, two heated hoses, 3 water chambers, it would feel the same, same way to set, etc.

My worry is to be able to feel a difference and then not been able to sleep when I change machine.

Thanks for your thoughts and comments

Rosie
ps I'm in Canada it would be expensive only on shipping maybe $100 and on this days our dollar is in the basement.

Check with secondwindcpap.com...they had a good deal on S9 last week. I think the 2 machines are very similar except that the Airsense 10 has an integrated humidifier.(If the humidifier goes bad, you're screwed).

They have a strict limit of 2000 hours.

Yes, I agree that the primary advantage of the S9 vs. Airsense is that the humidifier is separate so if it stops working, you can get a replacement for just that part. You can send the S9 humidifier in for fixing or replacement and still have your cpap at home. The only real disadvantage, IMHO, is if you have a cat that insists on stepping on that on/off button while you are sleeping.

Thanks for the answers.

I think I will go for a S9 autoset. What I need to decide now is if I buy a gently used (I still have my humidifier and heated hose from the sick machine ), an open box or a new.

I'm scare about the gently used because what happened to mine with only 10,000 hours are they able to detect that problem without a human sleeping with it?

I also need to ask what's an open box (a demo ?).

Rosie...You should ask them these questions. Open box should be new...Secondwind supplies a warranty with their products....Gently used often is only a couple hundred hours.

LSAT, I will call them on Monday when I'll be off and check for the options they can offer to me. Once they told me I didn't need a dr's prescription, that will be nice because mine is several years old. To get a prescription it will take months, it's not fast to get an appointment with the specialist.

Here in Montreal they told me I needed a prescription not more than 1 year old Who is going to kill himself with a CPAP that you need to have a prescription, sigh! Maybe because of the pressure setting but if somebody wants to buy one and use the same pressure from it's old machine they should sell it without prescription.
