Re: I thought i was okay with this diagnosis and i am just NOT!
Dont let it scare the kids, minimize the negatives and maximize the positives when discussing it with them. My son was really bummed and said he was sorry that I had to wear a mask to sleep. i told him I was excited because now I would get a good night's sleep and be in a better mood. Also have some...

What are your RERA #s? Have you researched UARS?
Me personally I had very few OSAs and Hypoponeas but the RERAs were enough to wake me up and fragment my sleep causing EDS but not enough to cause O2 desaturation.

Re: Snoring! Did you develop avoidance strategies? (Long post)
I just denied that I snored and told my wife she was crazy. "Honey, I sleep on my side or stomach, the only way you can snore is sleeping on your back" Of course the sleep study proved otherwise. She enjoys the benefits of my CPAP as much as I do. And just to make this longer, a funny anecdote. When...

Re: Bedside furniture and CPAP machines
I think the documentation for my PRS1 said not to put it on carpet due to overheating risk. In our camper it has to be on the floor so i just put a magazine under it to keep it off the carpet. At home i have it on my night stand, but it was making noise when running, sort of a vibration between the ...

Re: Help with leakage on Swift LT nasal pillow mask
now the Swift FX on the other hand, still struggling to control leaks with it. I really want it to work out since it has a nicer hose/swivel than the LT but i just can seem to get it to stay sealed. I use the same O rings on my Swift FX and have no leak problems. They helped, but still didnt comple...

in my mind the fact that you are continuing to work at making CPAP successful shows a positive attitude. To me a negative attitude would be someone that gives up after the first setback.

Re: A Poll -- How compliant are you?
I am over 85, but not 100. I have missed a few nights when camping and I dont drag it out to the hammock for an afternoon siesta. But, my CPAP usage is not life and death, at least not yet, I am on it for excessive snoring, fragmented sleep and excessive daytime sleepiness. While not an official dia...

Re: Do you tell people you have sleep apnoea?
I dont walk up to random people on the streets and tell them, but my close friends and family know. Mostly because they watched me struggle through the past 12-18 months in a downward spiral of poor sleep, daytime sleepiness, fatigue, stress and depression.

Re: New User - trouble adjusting (unusual, I know!)
have you considered trying different masks? A nasal or nasal pillow may alleviate some of the anxiety and claustrophobia.
I am able to fall asleep in any position with my nasal pillow mask, and once i am asleep i usually wake up in the same position.

Added o-rings to my masks last night
based on this thread http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=76193&st=0&sk=t&sd=a#p696119 I added o-rings to both my Swift LT and Swift FX masks. wow what a difference, really got the leak line settled down. I gave up on the Swift FX several weeks ago because I couldnt control the leaks with it....
