is there any reason to update the firmware from 903 in my machine, to the latest 905?
is it possible to do it by ourselves or do we have to do it through a DME?
one of my machines I purchaswed not through a DME and i would have a hard time getting a DME to change it.
thank you for your help

All you need is right software on an SD card and plug it in and the machine will do the rest by its self. Only DMEs can get the card (I expect).

If you happened to find a card, I expect the upgrade will destroy all the existing data in the machine and my reset all the settings. There is also the risk that it could destroy the machine if power goes out at the wrong time in the upgrade so make sure its plugged into a UPS or battery that is fully charged. So if you happen to find a card, let me know, I'm up for experimentation.

I have a 3 month old S9-VPAP-auto which firmware version is 903, I am trying to upgrade to 905. I ask ResMed support, they're saying I have to get a new machine if you want to get a new firmware version 905. Has anyone has experience of upgrading firmware on a ResMed S9 machine?

Since it is a regulated therapeutic device, not piece of consumer entertainment (etc) electronics, that's a totally anticipatable response

Cheers,

Bill

Maybe he's been better off buying a mp3 player to play with, and toast. Jim

When I got a new S9 AutoSet in late December 2011 with the Version 0602, I demanded that it be exchanged for a more current one when I found out that the newer Version 0903 was out.

The DME provider was told by ResMed that he had to send my machine back to them & they would change the "board" with the newer Version 0903 on it.
Apparently even ResMed cannot or will not just "flash" the upgrade.

I opted instead to get a new machine. By this time it was late January 2012.

At that time ResMed told me & the DME provider that 0903 was the latest Version.
However, based on the timing of when people reported having gotten S9 AutoSets with the Version 0904 & then 0905, I suspect ResMed just flat out lied (more than one person on more than one occassion).

However, since the date of manufacture of the replaced machine was much closer to my original purchase date than the date of manufacture of the 1st machine I was given, I relented & did not pursue it any further.

Edited to add: Does anyone know wheter the newer Versions 0904 & 0905 were specific to a specific coutntry ? countries?

Do the upgrades actually represent enhanced programming, bug fixes, or what?
This is ResMed, after all. Can we expect good from them?
Edit: Specifically, will newer firmware still run on Sleepyhead?

IMHO, all of the above.
But, since what exactly is changed or added is such a guarded secret, no one knows for sure.

I have been told (but have been unable to independently verify this) that the Version 0904 was a major revision. 0905 came soon thereafter & not that much of a change.

I don't use Sleepyhead, so I can't even attempt to guess.

I know one DME who has flashed them in the past.

Thats a good question.

Have you seen a Resmed S9 AutoSet with the Version 0907 internal software?

If yes, could you please post a picture of the screen showing that Version.

I've sold two with that level. They were 2313x serial numbers from Singapore.

The very first models with the 0602 firmware had a problem called "data skew". After that, I have seen no issues.

Thanks, that is great information.

Do you have any idea what the manufacture dates were of the 1st machines to have the 0907 Version in them?

Formatting the SD card at least every 2 weeks was a way to keep the "skew" from growing.

Since I format my SD card every week after I download the data to ResScan, I never had a problem with "skew". But, I have the 0903 Version, so I assume I would not have a "skew" problem anyway.
