Re: Thinking about small generator for backup

Hey Nan, I have a nice inverter and large deep cycle battery, it works great but the icon auto just sucks the juice out of the battery. When the power is out at home its no big deal as I have a backup generator that I use to power the house, so I can recharge the battery. When I am camping or away f...

Re: Thinking about small generator for backup

Hey folks I know it sounds crazy but this machine is always quite warm, I have observed the 60 watt draw for a few hours even. When its ran with the heated hose and humidity off it stays within the stated current draw on the product label. I use the nasal pillows and because my sinuses are always qu...

Re: CPAP machine recommendation

Stay away from the icon auto if you want to have access to in-depth data. I have the Icon Auto and I like the fact that its really quiet, but thats the only thing I like about it. Oh and if you pay more for the software it will play one of 5 songs as an alarm........

Re: Thinking about small generator for backup

Read my original post, I clearly state what machine I have and whet I have observed using it. With the machine on, at 10cm and using the humidity and the heated hose it consumes 300watts, so to provide 300 watts at 120v it must draw 30amps+ (the plus is for the loss through the inverter, fans heat a...

Re: Thinking about small generator for backup

<sigh> The inverter draws that. And if you use the formula I provided you will understand.
1 amp at 120v requires 10 amps at 12v at the supply side of the inverter.
Google watt converter and play with it. Anyway, good luck The OP has a solution and thats the important thing.

Re: Thinking about small generator for backup

My experience with my xpap, the FnP Icon Auto running off a battery. The Icon auto, when its just plugged in will draw 60 watts doing nothing. When its turned on and the hose and humidity are turned off it draws 90 watts. Turn on the hose and humidity and its close to 300 watts. Wow! My PRS1 Auto a...

Re: Thinking about small generator for backup

300 wats at 120vac is a draw of close to 30 amps at 12vdc. you are mixing up something in your conversion cuz there is no way that any cpap will use 30amps at any voltage my guess is you are calculating the current at ac voltage then applying it at 12v 12v current is less than 120volt ac current 30...

F&P Icon Auto camping woes

Ok so I crew on a race plane at the Reno Championship Air Races and I use CPAP. Being poor I camp out on the lawn of a small church, and would never camp anywhere else. I found that just when plugged in and with everything turned off or turned down that this pig of a machine idles at 50 watts. When ...

Re: Dehumidifier water

Its not distilled water, its condensate and it needs to be disposed of in a drain. As posted before you can get quite sick from it. Check your local plumbing codes, it must be disposed of properly. It will disolve copper pipe. It has a low pH. nasty stuff it is.

Re: i cant use the CPAP

Get some nasal pillows, the resmed swift FX is what I have now. I really really like it. I started out with a F&P opus 360, I fought that dam thing for three weeks before I took it back. The resmed pillows work well, less leaks and they are really comfy.
