Re: The three P's to success.
I want to first start by thanking everyone who has taken the time to read my post. I Also would like to thank everyone for the comments as well. I now realize that constructive criticism is sometimes hard to take when you are so very new to a forum such as "CPAP talk". I have to admit I got a littl...

Re: The three P's to success.
Yup, I think we got punked again. I don't think so. Too much time and energy put into the person's original post. Why would someone do that if he/she was trying to "punk" this forum? It is also important to consider the very different costs of being wrong in the two directions. If we treat a real p...

Re: Has everyone gone insane? CPAP Monitoring/Modems & SD Cards?
After speaking with my wife, I caved into the modem...what a mistake...what a nightmare. My wife and me were woken 5 times during the night by a "humming" noise coming from our alarm clock/sound machine. It was loud...my wife, 3 months pregnant, and I barely slept. The noise would last 30 seconds o...

Re: insurance won't pay for the sleep test
The problem is that once the federal government gets involved with any thing never going to be cheaper or better it can only get worse. I think it would be better at the state level, what works in one state might not work in all states. I don't understand why the US federal government is expected t...

Re: insurance won't pay for the sleep test
You know I like my Insurance the way it is. My employer pays 100% of my premiums for myself and my family, my insurance pay's 100% of all cpap supplies and sleep studies, 80/20 on every thing else until I hit a maximum of 6000 out of pocket. I DO NOT want Obama care... And for the people looking fo...

Re: Has everyone gone insane? CPAP Monitoring/Modems & SD Cards?
I have Kaiser and Apria. I was not given a choice in my machine and I was given a plain old brick CPAP. I had to scream and fight and email my doctor everyday till she agreed to loan me one of their APAP machines with an SD card. I kept it for 4 weeks and when I went to return it, I had printed out...

Re: 2 nights no power - no cpap - THANKS SANDY!
Is provent a reasonable option for these events? You would need to try Provent and see if it works for you. If it does, it would be an option. I think there is a period of adaptation to it too. I would probably rip it off the first couple of nights! Someone here used it recently for a trip or somet...

Re: are there special therapists that can help w/ noncompliance?
I used to have a normal routine, going to bed at midnight and getting up at 10. I even think I used to get up at 9 there for awhile. I guess it's been a problem off and on for awhile. I consider it a problem now because i live at a retirement community that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I sl...

Re: OT: Eye floaters and flashes of light
here is what my eye doctor told me about floaters; "Floaters appear when tiny pieces of the eye's gel-like vitreous break loose within the inner back portion of the eye. When we are born and throughout our youth, the vitreous has a gel-like consistency. But as we age, the vitreous begins to dissolv...

Re: CPAP Device Survey
I will not be doing the survey because it would not let me view all the questions without answering the first page questions. I don't like to start on a survey unless I'm reasonably sure I'm going to be able and willing to complete it, and I can't know that without looking over the whole set of ques...

Re: My new approach - feedback requested
When I can't fall asleep, I intentionally try to keep my eyes open. I pick a spot in the room and stare at it, trying to keep my eyes open. Sounds crazy but it works for me. Obviously, don't pick the time on the alam clock to stare at. Stare at the chosen spot and try to make your breathing really ...

Re: My new approach - feedback requested
Well I didn't take anything to sleep last night and gave myself an hour on the machine from 9:30 to 10:30, but no sleep. So then I gave myself another hour without the machine and no sleep. I then went out to living room and fell asleep at 2:15 in front of tv. I got less than four hours and now I h...

Re: My new approach - feedback requested
In order not to be so tired that I try to harm myself or lose my job, I've decided a new approach to my cpap. I will go to bed at the same time every night and put it on. I will read and/or try to go to sleep. I will give myself an hour to fall asleep with the machine on. If I do fall asleep, wonde...

Re: Hose manager system Grrrrr...
I got a hose hanger because I was getting some major leaks that seemed to be due to the hose pulling on my nasal pillows when I turned over. That does not happen to me with a hose hanger. No more major leaks, and my AHI went down a bit.jencat824 wrote:Also, just FYI, why does everyone hang their hoses?

Re: insurance won't pay for the sleep test
Well, I have friends who live in Canada. And, I've observed some of the trials and tribulations of forum members who have posted from Great Britain, Australia and other European countries who have tried to deal with the healthcare in their countries. I've also read many (horror) stories from those ...
