Re: Machine Recommendations
Thanks for all the feedback! Sounds like PR has really upped their game since the System One. I like that DreamStation has a iPhone app to read the data, I like this trend towards empowering the patient. It would seem ResMed doesn't have an iPhone app, do they at least give users a desktop app or we...

Machine Recommendations
I am coming up on 5 years this November and at that time I get to pick a new machine. I have had a F&P Icon Auto, both the original silver and the new grey model. They have worked well for me but I have run into issues being tethered to an AC outlet. I know 5 years ago the ResMed S9 was the most rec...

Get your CPAP if at all possible!
Just wanted to add to the other testimonials regarding getting your CPAP when you have surgery. I slipped in the Walmart parking lot a few weeks back and got a trimalleolar fracture in my ankle. Luckily I chose the right hospital ER and they had a orthopedic surgeon and an OR available and within 2 ...

Re: Surgery - Promising?
Nice that they included the stats. This looks better than the soft palate surgery that has been pushed for so long, with that a 50% decrease in AHI is considered successful and most are less than that. This looks like a ~66% decrease in AHI to the 9 range, not bad. I am <2 AHI on my CPAP so you won'...

iHealth Wireless Pulse Oximeter
With all the new health monitors coming out this week at CES I decided to look and see if there is anything new on Pulse Oximeters. I found the iHealth Wireless Pulse Oximeter, it ties to iPhones using Bluetooth. Has anyone tried it? I can't find anything to indicate if you could use it overnight, t...

Re: aerophagia and heartburn?
I don't believe they are suggesting your head only, but your upper torso. Keeping the digestive tract at an angle prevents the air migrating down... bubbles rise in water. You can keep your head and spine in a neutral position by simply placing the hips on up on the incline plane, though 45 degrees ...

Re: aerophagia and heartburn?
I have found that Rooibos tea in the evening kicks most of my heartburn. Do you get it in the AM or PM?

Re: SleepyHead update coming very soon.
Krisasman - I can't even get the Icon software to work at all! I bought the machine from a member here and he sent me the software CD but registering the SW is more than I can tolerate - am letting DH wrestle with that for now. Bought this machine because a) it's an APAP, b) I needed a compact mach...

Re: SleepyHead update coming very soon.
F&P icon will give basic info, but I can't get the flow charts to behave. It's a little hard with no information whatsoever provided by the manufacturer. Just keep working on it and let us know if you need more Icon data. I can only give you CPAP mode data, but then again it might be easier to star...

While not Bluetooth, Sleepyhead for Mac does support the CMS 50D Plus that many on this forum use.

Re: Masks with quiet fabric difusers
The Eson spec sheet indicates it reduces the exhaust flow a little, I would guess 2-4 L/min based on their chart. I guess if a mask had a low exhaust flow rate to being with it might not be good but I really think that you could retrofit if your vents are all in one spot (my old Mirage FX wouldn't w...

Masks with quiet fabric difusers
I recently got an F&P Eson mask so my wife would have less noise next to her. I have tried out a few masks over the last year and some were so loud they even bug me. The key feature that makes the Eson so quiet is that they hold air filter material over the vent ports, this breaks up the airflow int...

Re: 1 Year and quick question on masks
Nah, I am a tech geek, always looking for something better, but as long as it doesn't irritate my nose it will probably be my nasal mask for the year.jencat824 wrote:maybe it will be the one for you
The only 'The one' for me is my wife, you only pick them once, and I picked a good one .

Re: 1 Year and quick question on masks
It is built into the F&P Eson and Zest Q series masks best I can tell. I think someone could retrofit filter material onto many masks, it all depends on if you have a concentrated vent holes or if they are spread all over the mask. I would imagine if you machine's intake filter is large enough to co...
