Re: Start out, purchase online-better through home health?
I went to secondwindcpap.com and bought a used ResMed S9 Autoset for $625, everything but the SD card included-they were great. If I had not known it was a "used" machine, I would have thought it was new. I had 50% co-insurance so my out of pocket costs going through insurance would be the same as p...

Re: Can you use APAP nighlty or is it a temporary thing?
My doctor also refused to give me an Auto script; I just asked for the script they wanted me to have, just a straight up CPAP at pressure 11 and then bought one off of secondwindcpap.com with that script. You don't need to have an Auto script to get an Auto machine; I think our forum sponsor also do...

Re: questions about lowering AHI
Hi Beth! I don't think I have much to add but wanted to let you know that I had a frustrating experience with my sleep clinic too. They also had their own DME (across the hall!) and did not mention I could go to other DMEs if I wanted to; I made many calls to my insurance company when I had question...

Re: Success with Swift FX - Woohoo!
That's terrific! I have used my Swift FX for 9 nights now and am getting more comfortable with it. The first few nights I didn't have it sealed well and it felt like a windstorm around my face....I think I've got it down now. I really enjoy the happy face I get when the mask fit is good. Pugsy is ab...

Re: Can I take a 1 hr nap without my CPAP?
Thanks for the responses- Okay, I have a confession to make; I ALREADY took a nap without it. I felt okay. However, I have decided that I will NOT nap without it anymore. Apnea is a funny thing; there are no visible outward symptoms (can't think of any except yawning, falling asleep while driving, b...

Can I take a 1 hr nap without my CPAP?
Is there any reason that I HAVE to use my cpap when I take a nap?
Overall my numbers have been good and I feel better already after 5 nights so I figured a nap without would be okay?
I have read on the forum that you should ALWAYS use your machine so I'm just curious. Thanks!

Re: Finally AHI under 5
Congratulations!
Isn't it the best when you actually feel pretty decent? I have been EXTREMELY lucky and have had AHIs under 5 since I started. Well, okay, it's only been 5 nights but I'm definitely encouraged!
Wishing you continued good sleep.....

Re: Need Sleepyhead help for an iMac-SD card issue
Thanks Nate and Rio! Last night's AHI was 2.0 so I am definitely very happy. And I think I am feeling better, although my eyes have been feeling pretty dry but I think that it's because of the weather. Quick question: With the nasal pillows, am I supposed to be totally "plugged up" (for lack of a be...

Re: Need Sleepyhead help for an iMac-SD card issue
Rio- thank you so much! A "NO NAME" option showed up while I was searching a few minutes ago and that did it! I don't know why it took an hour or so to come up but I'm glad it did. Now I just need to read up on all the data and explanations, etc. My AHI has been low (I've only been on it 2 nights an...

Need Sleepyhead help for an iMac-SD card issue
Hello- I downloaded Sleepyhead and put in my SD card but I can't seem to get any further than that. I think I'm supposed to find the ROOT of the SD card-what drive letter it is in but I don't know how to do that. I've been trying to figure this out on my own and not having any luck. Thanks- Heather

Jason-
I also went through secondwindcpap.com. It looks just like new. You do need a prescription though.
Craigslist is another option. No script needed.
This forum is fantastic-you will find all the help you need.
Good luck!

EPR at 3, very difficult to exhale
Hi all- I searched on the forums but didn't think I found exactly what I was looking for. Last night was my first night on my S9 Autoset. I have the pressure range from 9 to 13; sleep lab put me at an 11 and prescribed a straight up CPAP but I got an Auto so I changed it. I used the ramp feature for...

Hi Dazzles-
I am actually WAITING to start using my CPAP for the first time.
I have gotten a huge amount of support from the folks on this site. They are incredible.
Wishing you luck and perseverance!

Re: Auto S9 x PR S1 - BIG price diference????
I wasn't sure which machine to get either, but I chose a USED S9 from secondwindcpap for $625. An "open box" NEW S9 is $799. A PR S1 was $369. I am a dork; I liked the look of the S9 better, plus the screen shows smiley faces and you can buy a "skinit" to decorate it. I figured if I was going to hav...

Re: Introducing myself
Hi Kathryn! I had my first sleep study January 22nd and haven't gotten my machine yet! (Within the week though....can't wait!). Needless to say, I was jealous I don't think you could find a group of more friendly, supportive, knowledgeable or helpful folks anywhere else on the web. Welcome to the Ho...
