Re: Need oxygen bleed-in adapter

Does anyone have an extra one of these things that attach to the hose from the CPAP, THEN attaches on the other side to the mask tubing, and it has a little port where the O2 tubing attaches?? I have two or three I got from crapia for free. Check with whoever you get your cpap supplies from. I got ...

Re: Res Med shuts itself off in middle of night

I had that happen when I first got my cpap and apria sent a tech out and checked the unit. They found a defect in something because they replace it on the spot.

Re: Am I being screwed by my DME?

Hi NoSleep4u, I had the same problem, but fewer hours. My S9 Elite had about 150 hours on it. Mine was through Medicare. The DME (Apria also) told me that Medicare neither required a "new" machine nor even the current model. I don't know if that was true or not. Evaluating the "relatively" low numb...

Re: Should I be worried about getting sick from bacteria in cpap

I recently read an article online that a CPAP machine and hoses will collect bacteria and push it into your mouth, nose, and lungs while you sleep. This obviously scared the crap out of me. I only clean about once a month. Should I be worried about this? I have a Resmed S9. Also, what should I use ...

Re: Since we are talking about Medic Alert products.. (OT?)

When I was an EMT on a volunteer fire department in WA State years ago, we were indeed taught to look for a medic-alert bracelet or necklace. In the area I now live in (Denver) they seem to prefer to ask the patient for the information. The last two times they hauled me in I was unconscious so the a...

Re: ResMed Quattro FX mask

I have had the exact same experience that you described. At first the Quaattro FX seemed a big improvement however after using it the second time, it leaked most of the night and continued for the next two weeks I tried it. I kept tabs on the leakage by downloading the data onto the ResScan program ...

Re: Slimline vs Standard Hose

I also have the slimline hose which is what my machine came with. When I was away from home several months ago it began to leak and I found several holes near the end of the larger rubber end. I got some duct tape from a local hardware store and was able to make a temporary repair until I got back h...

Re: Why S9 AutoSet so Popular vs. S9 Elite (Resmed)?

Are there any particular reasons why some DME's or Doctors or Sleep Centers, especially with respect to medical insurance issues, might be prone to prescribing/selling . . . My doctors always make those kinds of recommendations for all of my COPD and CPAP needs. I would personally never accept my D...

Re: Where was your S9 born?

I was curious and looked at the bottom of both my S9 Elite and H5I humidifier. Both had the same stamp on the bottom of the molded (or extruded) case were marked as manufactured in Australia. The back of each unit however does have a white sticker on it and the S9 Elite sticker said that it was made...

Re: CPAP and Airport Clearance

I have a Medical Equipment tag I printed from somewhere online, I'd attach it to this post, but I'm not sure how... It emphasizes that CPAP is lifesaving equipment and is permitted by the TSA, just in case you run in to any problems. I just found this card online per your suggestion and did a “save...
