1st time AHI= 0

Post by ClayL » Thu Jan 02, 2014 3:14 pm

As the title says, for the first time in seven years of CPAP my AHI last night was 0.0.
I have no idea what changed.
The average for years has been about 3.8 or so. In the last two weeks I have had a 0.28, several 0.30s and all have been less than 3.8 for the last month except for one 6.5.

I printed and saved the daily graph page from Sleepyhead to show my sleep doctor when we get back to CO this summer. (We are in AZ for the winter).

Congrats!

Closest I've ever been was a .12; I had nothing all night; then after waking up and I still had my mask on, I had a central that got recorded.

Your AHI is supposed to be under 5.. Would need more information to see what might be the problem.

Thanks folks. It was a good way way to start the new year as Bill44133 said.
It was back up to 1.22 this morning. The average for the last 30 days is 1.33.
The average for the last year is 4.6 and like I said I don't know what has changed. Not complaining though.

I had a 0.0 AHI last night. I had switched FFMs from the Quattro to the Hans Rudolph V2. However I feel exhausted and had vivid nightmares during the night. The machine said 0.0 AHIs but my average 90% pressure went up to over 13 (normal = 7-10ish). So why this happened I have no idea. If I wasn't having apneas, then why did I need higher pressures? Hypopneas?

Ugh this is why I don't put much stock in the accuracy of todays machines, etc. Ill take a few AHIs and a restful sleep any day.....

Who knows perhaps its all a coincidence.

Congrats, Clay! Could what has changed be that you're in Arizona for the winter? Lots of folks do better health-wise in AZ. Keep up the good 'work'!

Since this is the tenth year we have spent all or part of the winter in AZ and the first winter I have had such good numbers, I don't think it is the change in location.

Oddly enough for the month before we left CO my AHI was really high compared to the normal (over ten some nights). I switched from auto to a constant pressure and it went down to about six that night. We hit the road a day later and the numbers dropped below five and have remained low ever since.

When I got this machine - my first auto - the doc asked me to run it on constant pressure for a month and then switch it to auto. I did and the average AHI for the auto month was very slightly lower than the constant pressure. It has been on auto ever since then. I will now switch back to auto and see what happens.
