Best day so far

Post by BigTex » Thu Mar 08, 2012 3:07 pm

Tuesday the pressure was increased from 8 to 10.
Using the same mask.

Tuesday night was better then before but AHI was 25.
I slept most of my night on the back so that was good.
Improvement but not there yet.

Last night I used the mask for the longest I have.
Pretty happy about that, almost 7 hours.
I did wake up a few times but it wasnt the same waking up as before.
AHI was 16 so thats an improvement.
Biggest difference was that I slept on my side for large part of the night.

My sleep study showed 61 events on my back and 40 on my side per hour.
The doc also told me they increased the pressure from 8 to 12 during the study but started me at 8.

I think the pressure needs to be increased but I am pretty excited that I actually had some improvement.
I will stay at 10 tonight if its the same as previous nights i will contact them and ask to increase the pressure.

Good to hear, it's all about improvements, especially in how you feel. I have the same machine as you. I'm on a pressure of 12 and my EPR is at 3. It works great for me now. I wake up and it doesn't even feel like it's on now i'm so used to it.

Good luck going forward Tex.

Awesome Big Tex! Be patient. You'll get this figured out. Once you get it down under 5, you will begin to feel better, especially later in the day. It was a subtle improvement for me, but for some, its an amazing experience. Keep at it!

Great to hear, as mentioned before we are in the same boat being a couple weeks into the therapy. My Doctor also increased my pressure earlier in the week to 10-16 on my APAP, I slept much better with less events, last night my AHI dropped below 10 and slept better once again.

Last night was good too.
Over 7 hours on the machine.

Again, I slept on the side but woke up 4 times I think.

AHI was only 11 so that was good.

i am pretty sure the pressure is not high enough yet but we are getting there I think.

I need to train myself to sleep on the back but I will do that after I get this mask down.

Still very tired but I am making progress.

I am 100% certain that without the help of the great members of cpaptalk.com I would have given up already.

So just case I have not said it - thank you for all the input and help.

Why do you need to train yourself to sleep on your back? Most people get more events that way. With a proper pillow - one where your mask can hang over the side.

When I sleep on my side I curl my arms up and that leads to tendonitis.
i cut off the circulation in my forearms. Also, I have big shoulders so when I sleep on them it gives me problems.

for the tendonitis I have tried:
Chiropractor
Acupuncture
Tens unit
Laser
Active release.
Plus other treatments.

I take time off from the gym and get fixed up but it comes back right way.
Several practitioners are pretty certain that its due to the way I sleep.

I really prefer to sleep on my side.
if I could just learn how to not pull my arms up...

Maybe I just need to tie my arms down
