Re: AirFit F40 Thoughts?

Been using the F40 for about two weeks. Really like it. Had been using the F30, but was attracted to the all silicone mask and reconfigured head gear. It seems quieter, and once I got the straps adjusted just right (took 2 nights) I find that side sleeping is fine, no leaks, and no more strap marks ...

Doh!
Where is the sheepish grin emoji when you need it?
Felt great doing the fit test. Can't wait to try it for real tonight.
Thanks for the guidance.

Re: ResMed F30 headgear FIX, YAY!

I discovered this thread and eagerly ordered a set of the Amara headgear. It looks like in the intervening years the Philips magnet snaps have changed, and it doesn't look like the old blue Resmed versions detach easily. Hope springs eternal. Sometimes the springs dry up. :) 5F5BFA40-C47A-45C9-AC5F-...

Re: Full Face Mask Suggestions

Similar situation. Big guy, full facial hair, tendency to mouth breath. Took me quite a while to realize that mini-mask was not helpful (because of mouth breathing). Went to an ENT colleague, who confirmed that I have fairly narrow upper nasal airway passages, which tended to get pinched from the ma...

Re: How do clean the interior of a Soclean 2

Bought one without having researched it too well.
Alerted by the fervent comments here and further research, stopped using it.
But I find it a great place to stash the mask when not being used. Keeps it free from curious pets and floating dust.

Re: OSCAR type application for smart phone

Sleep HQ allows phone based viewing of data; it is uploaded to a cloud server, and can be accessed with any browser. The data is still uploaded from the SD card in the CPAP device, but they are working on a wireless solution using Wifi card. It's still in beta. The presentation of data is similar to...

Re: Oscar vs SleepHQ

Have been using Oscar for a while, and recently been giving Sleep HQ a try. I have noticed that the import process for Sleep HQ has improved over the last couple of months. Today I also noticed a teaser for "Magic Uploader" currently in beta. Since many machines have lost their comm link since 3G ha...

Re: Airtouch F20

Successful first night with AirTouch. Was able to loosen the straps a little so overall more comfortable with no change is leak rate, which was usually negligible with silicone version. The variability seems to come from how long it has been since I trimmed my beard. It creeps up towards the end of ...

Re: Total Time in Apnea (TTIA)

Another consideration is that an apneic episode represents a stress to the body, and the repetitive release of stress related hormones can have cumulative effects to the heart, raise blood pressure, affect glucose tolerance and insulin resistance etc. The insurance companies realize that preventing ...

Re: ResMed AirMini Update

I watched the brief YouTube review from an Aussie who was at the event. I believe he said projected cost would be $AUS 2100. That would be $1500 here. Anyone else catch that bit?

Re: Sleep Apnea and Tonsils

If you are already scheduled to see a sleep doctor, I suspect they will recommend a sleep study first, which will at least provide baseline data (do you meet diagnostic criteria for OSA, how severe, etc.). Then as a treatment option, they might recommend the ENT evaluation prior to initiating CPAP. ...

Re: Sleep Apnea and Tonsils

Assuming that this represents your normal condition (those don't look inflamed) I think a referral to an ENT specialist is in order. There us a subset of patients for whom chronically enlarged tonsils ("kissing tonsils") is the main contributor to obstruction. You probably still warrant a sleep stud...
