Re: how long until you sleep through the night
I think it depends on lots of factors. I have been on my CPAP for over 3 years but don't sleep straight through the night ever. BUT - I sleep a heck of a lot better than I did before! I don't usually get up anymore, but I wake up 3-4 times a night and roll over, flip my pillow to the cool side and f...

Re: plugged ears and nasal vs pillows mask
Last year I had horrible whistling in my ears at night due to my CPAP & pressure build-up. I thought I would need to reduce my CPAP pressure. Went to my family doc and he suggested an OTC decongestant - that took care of the problem in just a couple of nights and I haven't had to deal with it again....

Re: Rain Out solutions
I use a SnuggleHose cover - works perfectly. One tip though - go ahead and spend the extra $3 to get the zippered version - so much easier to get off and on!

Sleep monitor like Zeo?
I had a Zeo a few years ago and thought it was wonderful. I learned a great deal about my sleep patterns and was able to make necessary adjustments to get a better night's sleep. But since they went belly-up, I haven't been able to use it and wondered if anyone else has come up with a sleep monitor ...

Re: Sudden increase in peak AHI
Thanks for such a great explanation! I don't think I sleep on my back, I would have back & neck pain if I did. I also have almost no snoring now, and I had quite a lot until just a month or so ago and if I rolled onto my back it would wake me up. So maybe it is REM. That seems most likely. You asked...

Sudden increase in peak AHI
I've been on CPAP for 3 years and have never seen this kind of spike before. Most of the events are hypopneas, usually clustered together in about an hour period. My tidal volume also looks different. No big leaks. No illness or congestion. No new medications but I have recently lost over 6o lbs (we...

Increased AHI after gastric bypass
I had gastric bypass surgery 3 months ago and have lost almost 60 lbs. I have noticed a marked increase in my AHI (from around 1 to now averaging around 4) and patterns that look suspiciously like Cheyne Stokes. Is this common after rapid weight loss? My blood work has been great and I am off all my...

Re: Weaning down pressure and maybe off CPAP
I don't know which came first - can't know. However I have been seeing my numbers drop considerably as I lose weight. BTW - i hadn't lose any weight at all before in the three years I've been on CPAP, my weight loss has only been in the past 3 months after intense effort. I've lost 25 lbs so far and...

Re: Weaning down pressure and maybe off CPAP
Okay -= this sounds like good advice. I will keep decreasing pressure gradually down to 4 and when I have been there with very little events, I'll do another sleep study. Just didn't see any point in doing one now because I'd have to do another in a month, then in another month, etc as it will be su...

Re: Free from sleep apnea
Hi - just read your post after I posted about my own weight loss and weaning off CPAP. I am also having bariatric surgery in a week but have already lost enough weight that I've seen drastic improvement and have needed to lower my pressure. So, I imagine I will be in your shoes soon and wondering ho...
