What are the logistics of O2 supplement and travel?
My doctor is talking about adding extra oxygen because I'm still not sleeping well and because, when I did a home study, my O2 was low for 90 minutes total during the night. I'm getting the gizmo to check O2 again on Monday and will get oxygen supplementation if my numbers are low again. What's real...

Re: Newbie question about obstructed exhalation
Yep, got the same problem when I try to sleep on my back. I could actually sleep on my back before I got my machine a few weeks ago--although I did snore--but now I can't manage it because as soon as I relax, something slams shut at the back of my throat and I can't exhale. I have an appointment nex...

Urgh, heading in the wrong direction
I had massive insomnia. Sleep study had an AHI of 6.6, mostly in REM, and my diagnosis was UARS. I've been on my machine for about a month and really had no trouble getting used to it. I slept a lot more than I used to and--at least at first--was waking up somewhat less often than I used to and feel...

Mine was only 6.6. But in REM, it was 28.

Re: Kind of a dumb question
The sleepyhead software is crashing on me when I try to load data. I had that happen only once. A repeat attempt to upload the data was successful for me though. I didn't even have to reinstall SleepyHead. What Windows version are you using? Is your computer 32 or 64 bit? If SleepyHead won't work f...

Re: Kind of a dumb question
For a complete understanding of both what that 7-day average AHI means AND how your System One calculates it, you can read my blog entry Understanding how the 7-day and 30-day average AHI's are computed And a long term AHI = 1.6 is pretty good---well under the 5.0 line for "effective treatment". So...

Kind of a dumb question
I've begun trying to extract information from my machine. When it says AHI seven day average, does it mean average per hour, per night, or is that number for the whole seven days? What's a good number? Mine is 1.6.

Re: Back sleeping and questions
Many folks here (me included) have noticed that they have positional Apnea, and your CPAP machine will have to work harder while in the supine position. Is there a reason you want to sleep on your back? I find I have a much more rested night if I sleep on my stomach in the falcon position, but that...

Back sleeping and questions
I didn't turn up more than minor apnea on my sleep study, and all of that in REM, but my doc thought my sleep problems could be caused by airway resistance and sent me home with what I think is an APAP. I've adjusted well to it--comfortable sleeping and no leaks, but have questions. I find that I ca...

Re: New Here, but do I really belong?
I can relate. After horrible insomnia, waking up about every half hour, my sleep study said I didn't have apnea. Fortunately, my doctor suspected airway resistance, did a home study, and set me up with a machine. So far, I've had no trouble using the machine and the main difference in my sleep after...
