Hi Theresa, I'm the newby from the Feb meeting. Unless plans change, I'll be around on April 21. I appreciate your efforts at planning a meeting. Please tell me how I can be sure to see current stuff for Denver - this is the 1st time I've gotten on here since early March & just happened to see your message cuz it was just posted it the last day or two.
Thanks, Bob
Thanks, Bob

Bump bump bump bumpity bump!
Re: DENVER forum meetup: April 2012
Starlette/all, I will not be able to make it.
My mom had a heart attack last Sat. She's 91.
She survived but there was major damage.
It is not repairable. I got her moved to a rehab/assisted
care center yesterday. It also has hospice care,
whatever is needed.
My dad is 94. He is really having a hard time w/this.
They have been together 67yrs.
It has been a difficult time. Thankfully my sister just returned
from Israel, so I have her help.
They both need us now. I will be there for them.
It was interesting, as in the emergency room they had her on
an ASV machine. They had a Respironics PerformaTrak,
one time use, mask on her. Pretty nice mask.
I was able to adjust the mask and hose so it would work and
be somewhat comfortable for her. They had no clue how to adjust it.
At one point, the nurses were thinking that the ASV would have
to be continued in ICU. They didn't know what the settings meant
on the machine. I was explaining the IPAP/EPAP setting to them
and how it worked. Pretty weird.
You just never know when your OSA education will pop up.
I will be w/you all in spirit.
Be well.

Re: DENVER forum meetup: April 2012
I had no idea there was a Denver area meeting. Being new to xPAP therapy makes me think meeting with others dealing with all this would be great. I am teaching a motorcycle riding/safety class on the 21st and 22nd, but I will be sure to keep an eye out for the May meeting.
Re: DENVER forum meetup: April 2012
We would love to, but probably can't. Teri will probably still be in IA with her Mom. And I have a 4 hour driving test. I hope you all enjoy! It's a great meeting. Carbonman, we are so sorry to hear about your mother and dad-we understand! Blessings.
Re: DENVER forum meetup: April 2012
Hi all.
I'll go ahead and call it cancelled then. It's coming up this Friday.
Dad continues to be in the hospital. I can't put anymore on my "to do" list at this time as far as making this happen with scheduling and all.
I am severely at the point of exhaustion and can't put anymore on my plate.
We'll try for next month.

Re: DENVER forum meetup: April 2012
Hey Starlette, appreciate you trying to schedule meetup for 21st - even tho it won't happen. WTF is and when I try to italicize & use bold print on something on here? Also, what is Bump bump bump bumpity bump!
Sorry more than one of you have sick fathers, but happy that you're young enough to still have fathers!
Carbonman - I looked up your abbreviations/acronyms & understood most. But WTF is ASV? Acronym Finder says Air Switching Valve, which is then defined to be something on motorcycles????
Is there a Rosetta Stone course to teach all this language?
Thanks, Skyskier Bob

"Bumpity Bump, Bump, Bump" are just a set of words I (and others) use to note what action is being done.
Hitting the button "submit" allows the post to be resubmitted to the forum. Therefore, moves the post back to the top of the list.
Good morning Skyskier - May I suggest to you that you read, read, and read some more when you have time will help educate you to cpap terminology. I don't have time to look for you. On the forum search type ASV. There is a post that defines many of the xpaps used.

Re: DENVER forum meetup: April 2012 (CANCELLED)
ASV when related to sleep apnea is a type of machine
Adaptive Servo-Ventilation. Pertains to a low-pressure, electrically driven ventilator system with electronic pressure control. The device’s pressure controls are adjusted to deliver pressure support for patient ventilation assistance. The device augments patient breathing by supplying pressurized air through a patient circuit. It senses the patient’s breathing effort by monitoring airflow in the patient circuit and adjusts its output to assist in inhalation and exhalation.

and some of them we have in the SleepyHead software glossary

Hi Starlette, right now I'm without car, in process of trying to find one. Would love to meet again sometime, perhaps in May when things settle.
Thinking of quitting CPAP?
No problem, here's the first thing to do when you quit:
Advanced funeral planning. When you give up CPAP, you'll probably need it.
