The Settings are 6-11cm, with 8.5cm as the starting point. I don't use the ramp feature.Janknitz wrote:What are the pressure settings on your machine??
Have you looked at the data? Is your mask leaking? Are you drinking a lot of alcohol to celebrate the holiday (alcohol can worsen apnea)????

Last night was a gas!
A couple of days ago, my CPAP machine for some reason kept raising the air pressure in my mask until it got to 17cm and the air started to flow into my mouth. The DME was closed yesterday and is closed today so I can't talk to them about what happened. Normally, it will ramp up to 10cm and not go ab...

My CPAP Story
I've been reviewing with Sleepyhead my CPAP results and I see Cheyne-Stokes events and ClearAirway Events on a regular basis in addition to the Obstructed Airway Events. Not everyday, but frequently. Is this normal? I have Interstitial Lung Disease.

Re: Interstitial Lung Disease
My PFT show that my DLCO is at about 50%. So I have gas exchange issues that cause me to desaturate on exertion and when I sleep. The Apneas also cause me to have a O2 Sat that drops into the low 80's. That made me start to experience Extreme Fatigue during the day. That's why I started the CPAP.

Re: Dry Mouth
I think that the DME should have a chin strap to deal with that issue. I don't breath at all through my mouth, unless I'm SOB. But I still need a bit of water at night. I've noticed that creeping up the humidity on the CPAP also helps with a dry mouth.
Good Luck!

Re: Newbie....and HATE my mask
I liked my mask ininially, but it leaked too much air and that messed up the operation of the unit. I took it back, and they gave me another one that I used in my sleep study abd it works great! I didn't want to do the 1 month rent before I got my system, but it turns out to be a good thing. Good Lu...

Re: Were you up often to use the bathroom BEFORE Cpap?
I'll join the crowd, the day before CPAP 5. Night 1 of CPAP 0. I also didn't toss and turn all night. Just a few times. I've been on my CPAP for just a week, but I'm sleeping very well. I'm still tired, but alot less that before.

Re: Interstitial Lung Disease
Thanks for the input folks, I have my next appointment with my Pulmonologist in December. And I will be discussing it with him. Meanwhile the folks at the DME said that they will discuss it too with my PCP and my Pulmonologist. They will also have their own recommendations based on the results from ...

Interstitial Lung Disease
I have Interstitial Lung Disease and wanted to know if a CPAP or BIPAP is the way to go. I've been doing some research, and the ILD is of a RESTRICTIVE nature and not OBSTRUCTIVE. So, although I do have Sleep Apnea, the stiffness of my lungs may require a BIPAP to be most effective. Any comments? Joe
