Let us see your machine and hose management, here is mine.

Post by Burkebang » Fri Dec 30, 2011 4:57 am

I just wanted to share my machine and hose management with you. I hope that you will also comment and share pictures of your own management and maybe this can become a thread that can inspire people and give newbees like me good ideas. Comments are very welcome.

Here is what my side of the bed looks like at daytime.
Image

Here is the content of my drawer.

Here is what it looks like when in use.

I have cut a hole and run all cables through the back of the Ikea Malm nightstand, so nothing is visible when I close my drawer. I thought of running my hose out the back also, but I decided against it. Running the hose out the front forces the drawer to be a little bit open, that ensures that the machine will allways have good and steady air supply. When the drawer is closed with the hose hanging out in the corner, there is absolutely no way that any force on the hose can cause my machine to topple over, the only thing that can happen, is that the hose pops of the machine. The way I run my hose, any water in the hose will naturaly flow down and back to the humidifier, not to the mask. The machine is sitting on a sheet of self adhesive automotive noice reduction material. This made my allready quiet machine virtually silent. Closing the drawer on the hose reduces noice even further. I originally thought of lining the sides of the drawer and underside of the topplate of the nightstand with noice reduction sheets, but it is not nessecary.

I hope this can be of interest and hope to see your setup

Just putting a rubber pad under your machine will reduce any sound the system is making - - -
Being in the drawer also improves CPAP Desensitization Image Which is GREAT for Newbies to the Hose.
If you want something to Control the Hose during the night I'd like to suggest the CozyHoze™ a nother product of http://www.pur-sleep.com < This is a PLUG!>
Image Works without HURTING the great wooden wall you have and EASY to put away & Set-up...
GREAT for TRAVELING

Thank you VERY much for your tips!
I fell in love with that Hose Boss right away. I was actually thinking of botching up something like that myself, but now I don't have to

I just got the Hose Boss for Christmas and I love it. Never knew hose management could make such a difference. I sleep much more soundly not having to worry my subconscious with hose issues when I turn from side to back to side.

Here is my "Hacked Hose Hanger"
Image

I put this together with a few things I found around the house today, after seeing some inspiration from the previous post.

Image
The parts are as follows:
Coat Hanger Hook
2 Velcro Cable ties
Wall anchors and screws
A hair tie
Two name badge retracting reels

Detail of the reels hooked to the coat hook

Image
The elastic hair tie connects the clips on the back of the reels to the hook

The top hook makes a good hook to hang the mask during the day
Image

I was able to put this together next to nothing as all of this stuff was found in my house today. The name badge reels came from a trade show I did a while back, and the rest came from the garage. I was looking at the purchased hose management systems and all the parts looked very familiar to me. The Velcro strips are cable ties that you can buy in bulk at Home Depot or Lowes. The retracting reels look like the reels that you get with a name badge at work, and the hose clips are the name badge clips hooked to a Velcro strap. Took me about an hour to find and put this all together. The hose snuggle was made by mother in law along with a matching forehead pad for my mask. She made covers for my wife as well. If the hose manager works for me tonight I will make one for my wife tomorrow.

Look close at Bert's picture it shows a "Command Strip" that doesn't mark or put holes in the walls.

Maybe for your wife you could take a trip to the store? While there look for hair scrunchies. The rest of the hardware you can save.

Slip the hose thru the scrunchie and hook that right on the Command Strip Hook. Squeeze the hook with pliers if you choose.

My darling husband did this a while back using retractable key leashes he got free at a trade show.
Those events are like trick or treat for grown-ups.

Check first to see if the _air intake_ holes on are the bottom of the machine. If so, don't put anything beneath the machine that is soft/spongy and that would block the holes.

You know, like people do with their laptops, lol.
And wonder why they die.

A _firm_ rubber pad, that isn't soft enought for the legs of the machine to sink into, sounds like a really good idea though.

My retracting reels are from whatever pharma company was pushing Nexium. Ever since the economy took a bad turn, companies are getting frugal with the give ways. They used to give away backpacks, now your lucky if you get a plastic bag from some events.

I have been using the Hozer for a while now and I really love it. I wasn't aware of how much the hose re-positioning was bothering me until I started using the Hozer. It's a bit expensive but I wouldn't be without it. It's great for travel too.

Good luck!

My DIY hose manager works great. Keeps the hose off my face/body now. I sleep much better without worrying about dragging the hose around when I turn over.
