Re: Fired by my DME!!!!!!! :(

I would also copy your State department of insurance / agency that licenses DME / Home medical equipment as well.

Insurance is a contract - hold their feet to the fire.

Re: Newbie with questions!

My next question is can sleep apnea be cured? I am morbidly obese, but on a diet now. Has anyone ever been cured of OSA and been able to go off the CPAP? Does your body become dependent on CPAP? Welcome to the group - I am 6' tall and weigh about 200 pounds - I am overweight but only by about 20 po...

Re: I had absolutely no idea how much this would cost. I owe 5k

Who is your insurance provider? I have United through my employer. Each month I get a statement of the claims on what has been processed; these statements are easy to match up with bills and show the billed amount, the allowed amount, what they paid, and what I owe. I match them up, cross off the am...

Re: OT-Inversion chair (+bonus)

It is the same principle of traction. For some people it works, for others it does not. It can help to decompress the spine and take pressure off the nerve roots. I tried traction for my neck with no results.

Re: Insurance Annual Deductible and CPAP Parts

Even if you haven't met your deductible, buying through your insurance through an in-network DME gets you the insurance price, not the fantasy ripoff billing price most of the medical mafia charges these days. You may still find things are cheaper online. However, consider the finances carefully. I...

Re: Utility discounts

I do not know about utility discounts, but due to my wife's need for a cpap and O2 concentrator at night, we are on the priority reconnect list in case of a power outage. That did a lot of good this June / July when that Derecho thing came slamming though Ohio. I got my power back 5 days after the s...

Re: Is there a CPAP charity?

Check with around with your local faith based systems, county health and human services, or Large Hospital systems. My mother in law got a used / reconditioned Phillips S1 from HomeReach, part of Grant / Riverside / Ohio Health in Central Ohio, and was allowed to make payments over time. She has no ...

Re: Insurance Annual Deductible and CPAP Parts

Recently I had to order a new FFM, my plan runs on our fiscal year July 1 to June 30, so I had just started the plan year. My deductible is $200 so I pay it to the first provider that gets their bill in. This year it was to my DME. Oh well, now I am on my 80 / 20 pay until I reach my family out of p...

Re: Quitting smoking

I quit smoking a year ago this weekend. A month after that I ended up in the ER with chest pain, thought it was a heart issues. Had a cath, no blockages My primary care doc saw me, sent me for a sleep study, and this October will be my one year anniversary on a mask. The good results: I cut my blood...

Re: Please update. Favorite mask and why

I use the the Mirage Quattro, I have tried several nasal masks, nasal pillows, hybrid masks, but I keep running back to the Mirage Quattro, The Quattro FX that you get along well with would be a torture device for me. I have problems with any mask that uses a lower strap around the base of the skull...

Re: Using XPap at a hotel...

I also carry some of those 3 M removable hooks so that I can hang my hose over my head. I used to worry that housekeeping or someone would say something about the hooks, but no one ever has. Of course i remove them before I leave.(except once when I forgot. oops) I have noticed in some of the newly...

Re: Using XPap at a hotel...

I travel extensively for my job as a Trade-show manager. I am lucky that most of the hotels I stay in are connected to convention centers, Hyatts, Hiltons, Sheratons, I have never had a problem. I usually ask the front desk for several bottles of water to be placed in the room for my humidifier. I j...

Re: Mask vent waking partner

My dear wife and I are both on the hose. I can say is "Don't cross the streams."

Actually, we sometimes prop a pillow up between us to deflect the stream as it hits my back or hits her face. Otherwise we hardly notice.

Thank you Padacheek

Just want to thank Padacheek for the quick shipping of my new mask liner and neck strap pad. The neck strap pad helped to distribute the pressure of the strap over a bigger area and helped lessen the pressure over my already irritated cervical spine. Karen you are a Class Act! Your products are wond...
