I checkd off quite a few...but I need to add CPAP corrected my high blood pressure. Now it is back to 120/70.

Re: Sleep Apnea Tied to Increased Cancer Risk
All studies aside, doesn't it make intuitive sense that oxygen deprivation would cause disease in the body? To all systems...in all cells? I would think yes...your risk of everything goes up...diabetes, cancer, hypertension...fill in the blank! Our bodies need a certain amount of O2 for our systems ...

Re: Cannot sleep without Cpap (addicted now?)
OK. I'm sorry, Dori. My first time was over two years ago; but I was used to crappy sleep then. I'm really spoiled now, so the thought that anyone would require me to repeat the diagnostic study does not please me one bit. My diagnostic was an entire night, as I didn't 'qualify' for a split. (methi...

So true. I have (hopefully) learned to give it my best shot as far as helping someone...and then, my conscious is clear.chunkyfrog wrote:Family members of alcoholics are often advised to back off before it destroys themselves;
At some point, some just don't want help.

Agree with everything said so far. Denial runs in all families. Someone just hipped me to the concept of "radical acceptance". Google that one. It's a great concept....tough to follow.

Re: Considering "the works" surgery and would love advice
....I am TERRIFIED of this surgery, the recovery, and the pain. However, I am 35 years old and can't imagine going to sleep with a machine for the rest of my life... I do have to say, though, that I have been on my CPAP for 2 years now and tolerate it very well. I don't really mind it (in the short...

Re: How Do You "DESCRIBE" An Apnea To a Non Hoser Friend ?
Walk over to them and put your hands around their neck and squeeze. They will get the picture. Best answer ever. Yep..I agree! I think it all went off the rails when the medical community named it sleep apnea. To many, hearing someone has a sleep disorder probably doesn't sound too serious. If you ...

Re: memory and cognitive relationship with apnea
No Sleep, First off, I'm sorry you've had so much trouble getting a proper diagnosis. The people who are "fit" often end up having a fit with doctors who are clueless. OSA is STILL perceived as a disease only overweight people have. I hope that will change. As to your questions of memory loss and de...

Re: Looking for CPAP Insight...
....As for apnea, the important thing is apnea kills. Sometimes slowly and silently. Like boiling a frog . Sometimes slowly and painfully. Like the death of a thousand cuts. Sometimes suddenly by stroke or heart attack. Even worse, sometimes it doesn't kill, it just wears you away to nothing. I agr...

Welp....this has been an "interesting thread" on many levels. I do hope it is about over. I've put in my 2 cents a couple of times...here comes (as Bill Bolton said) +1...making it 3 cents! First of all....Nan...none of this is your fault. We are all sick to death of trolls...but as I mentioned....w...
