Re: OT: How do I get a bundt cake to have a flat bottom?

It's a pain, isn't it? I've managed a couple of times to get it pretty flat trimming it with an electric knife but it can turn into a complete disaster too. Usually I will get the cake out of the pan onto a cookie sheet, then put the cake plate or whatever you want to serve it from on the flat bott...

Re: UNIVERSAL SLEEP APNEA PATIENT BILL OF RIGHTS

I'm not sure how this would apply in other countries with socialized medicine, but in the U.S. I think we desparately need the following: The right to be given a copy of our prescription, to be informed by our insurer of exactly how CPAP equipment and supplies are covered by our insurers, and to be...

Re: Supreme Court and the Individual Mandate

Romney pioneered Obamacare. Socialist medical care may not be the answer but after dealing with numerous DMEs who want to overcharge for junk, neither is a capitalist solution. I think it would help if small companies could legally group together to get insurance rates that compared to the rates la...

Re: XPAP wedding/honeymoon

congrats! a wonderful story too! You don't like east coast humidity? Wow, the past two days here was 100 degrees and 90% humidity! AND I still use humidity when I sleep! -tino I use the humidifier every night too in very humid Florida. Even though our humidity is a killer, the AC keeps the house dry.

Re: Nightmares...maybe REM isn't such a good thing

I just got my first replacement machine after seven years and a lowering of pressure from 14 to 10. I realized the second night that I had dreamed and had not been doing so for quite a while. I now wake in the morning on my own when it's time for me to get up as opposed to DH having to shake me and ...

Re: How often do you have a sleep study?

Hi again all, I had my initial sleep study 5 years ago and was diagnosed with severe OSA and CSA. I was wondering how often one has a follow up study done? I have scheduled my next study in June to check how I have progressed over the last 5 years. Cheers, Emeraude I had my initial study in 2005 wh...

Re: Hair!

Randy, thanks. I can't imagine wearing something like that but I may not have much choice but to try it. Nap_ster, I have pretty thick hair, not short but not long. I have to wear the mask fairly tightly (I've tried loosening it up but all that does is cause leaks for me), so I'm getting a permanen...

45yr old male. Diagnosed with "mild sleep apnea" and heavy snoring. Also have been struggling with depression, anxiety, and never feeling rested during the morning or day. Re: How is the follow up supposed to work?

I seem to have lucked into a winner with my pulmonologist. He had treated me years ago for asthma and pneumonia in the hospital but was not in my network so I couldn't see him after discharge. I was seeing another one for the next seven years who was the "pat on the head, keep up your meds, you're 1...

Re: Newly diagnosed, newly on CPAP, need some support

Do you need the humidifier at all? My experience was that the air in Houston is very humid. I don't use my humidier. Too much humidity will sometimes cause swelling in the nasal passages. I live in Florida where it is also quite humid. However, we do use our AC nearly 11 months of the year which re...

Re: What is a good AHI number?

Most of the time, I'm below 2. I feel the same with any number from 0-2; and even had a night with over 6, and I still felt pretty good. Of course, that was with a brand new mask that leaked like the bottom of a rabbit hutch--it went back. mask that leaked like the bottom of a rabbit hutch--it went...

Re: OT (sorta'): Is Sugar Toxic on 60 Minutes Sunday

Before even seeing this, I know I agree. I am amazed at the foods that have added sugar, most for no apparent reason. It would seem our tastes have become so jaded that unless copious amounts of sugar and salt are added, food is not palatable. I am not overly fond of sweets and resent having sugar a...

Re: OT - Eyeglasses

This is great, I had glasses I bought several years ago and then lost them (must be the sleep apnea). So I need to get another pair or two and this is some great advice. Does it matter who we're getting the initial eye test and prescription from or can we do that just about anywhere? You have paid ...
