software for REMstar Auto A-Flex?
software for REMstar Auto A-Flex?
Just switched from a Resmed S8 compact to this REMstar Auto A-Flex with Humidifer. Since I've only used it for two nites can not tell any difference, but my Dr recommended a unit with a memory card to keep track of nightly patterns and events. After picking the unit up, did a quick online search to see what software might be available that I could use, and could only find one offering apparently....
While I'm very disappointed that s/w was not provided with the unit, would like to keep track of what is going on (in addition to ofcourse my quarterly meeting with Dr.). Can you make any recommendations on software for this unit and provide hints on lowest cost place to pick up a copy (or a download source)?
Also, is there a place I might find online programming instructions for this unit... the user manual does not appear to be all that inclusive.
Many thanks!
Bob

Re: software for REMstar Auto A-Flex?
Hi,
Please list your equipment in your profile so that more detailed information can be provided. The host of this site ( cpap.com ) offers software and readers if needed for Respironics units.
Note the viewer software don't work on 64 bit MS Windows Operating systems. If your Operation system is 64 bit, the post that fact and someone may send a PM to you.
Here is the link to the software (with a reader for the pre-"PR System One" Remstar units (these units use a "Smart Card" and you will need a smart card reader included).
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/respir ... eader.html
If you have a newer PR System One APAP then you don't need the reader (as the memory card is a small "SD" card). So here is that link.
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/respir ... chine.html
(if you want a USB "SD" card reader they offer that bundle also.)

Cheers

They intentionally don't put that in the Users Manual. Only the Clinicians Manual.

Re: software for REMstar Auto A-Flex?
We now see your equipment. Minor thing, I believe that you have chosen the wrong humidifier as the one pictured is for the older Remstar machine. This one below is likely the one you need. In the drop down menu of choices for equipment look for the PR system one heated humidifier.
Does yours look like this one?

If you have trouble with software, please ask. It can be confusing at time.

Re: software for REMstar Auto A-Flex?
There will be free open-source software for the System One and Resmed S9 coming in the next month or two.

Outstanding.... how might one find out about beta's or connect with the developers of this software. With minimal offerings apparently out there presently, suspect this will have high interest in the community.
thanks for the heads-up.

Re: software for REMstar Auto A-Flex?
OK, I've read a lot on this subject, but am not real confident that I've got it straight. Confirmation from the experts would be appreciated.
I've got a Remstar Auto M series with CFLEX. And a NON-M Remstar Auto with CFLEX.
Windows Vista 32 bit computer(s).
I think what I need is Encore Viewer 2.0 plus a card reader. (And a smart card for each machine.)
Should the above configuration work?
The Encore Viewer Pro would give me the additional ability to view waveforms. However, pro is harder to get and more expensive. Is it worth the effort to go "pro?" How hard and expensive is it to get "pro" vs. non-pro?

Re: software for REMstar Auto A-Flex?
Special card reader is needed for the older Remstar Auto and also for the not quite so old M series Auto. You will need the DT3500 to use either EncoreViewer or Encore Pro.archangle wrote:I've got a Remstar Auto M series with CFLEX. And a NON-M Remstar Auto with CFLEX.

BUT neither of those older machines will gather waveform data so even if you got EncorePro 2.xxxx it will not show waveform for any machine except the newer PR System One series of machines.
You would do just as well with EncoreViewer 1.0 or 2.0. Encore Pro 2.xxx is needed for waveform data but until you upgrade to PR S1 machine.
Are you planning on getting the new PR S1 machine anytime soon? Then you could go ahead and use Encore Pro 2.xx now if you had the card reader for the older machines. Later when you obtained the PR S1 machine then use that software with it to get the waveform data.
If you want to try Pro, send me an email or if you have questions about what I have said here.
I have M series Auto. I am using Encore Pro 2.xxx. I get the same reports I had with EncoreViewer 1.0 and Pro 1.8.
These machines did not gather waveform data, nor Central events, so the reports are unchanged.

Re: software for REMstar Auto A-Flex?
Thanks, Pugsy, I think had it all right except for the "no waveform" part. I appreciate the cogent and helpful response.
Sounds like my best bet is to get the "EncoreViewer 2.0 Software with USB Smart Card Reader for M Series and Legacy REMStar Machines" package.
I'd sort of like to get a later model PR System One machine, but don't really need one yet. If I get one, I'll consider getting the Pro software. Who knows, by that time, I might have a different version of Windoze, or Microshaft may have changed Windoze where it won't work with the version of Encore Pro I buy anyway. Or I might get some other manufacturer's machine.
If I do get a PR System One machine, the Encore non-pro software would work with it, as long as I have a standard SD card reader, right? Without the extra pro functions, such as waveform display. I'd be interested in the waveform data, but that's really for "tinkering," not for actual need at the moment.

And yes, this is the package with the DT3500 Infineer card reader you will need. You already found it.
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/respir ... eader.html
I got the similar package when I started but with the EncoreViewer 1.0 software.
The card reader is a bit pricey stand alone but packaged together with software not a bad deal and of course the software stand alone is $99.

I just got my first machine - Remstar System 1 Auto Cpap with A-flex system 60 series. The disclaimer on EncoreViewer is that it doesn't work with the RemStar 60 series. I too am really interested in being able to monitor my own data and would have been willing to buy the EncoreViewer 2.0 if it worked with my machine. However, it hasn't been updated for the new 60 series. So, would appreciate getting on the list for a notification when the free software is available.jedimark wrote:There will be free open-source software for the System One and Resmed S9 coming in the next month or two.
