Re: Which battery?

Am I correct that money to buy this is tight? If not, buy an AC generator so you have some electrical power available. Figure between $1000 to $2000 for a good unit that's quiet and will work reliably when you need it. Unfortunately, that's complicated, too. Do you have your own house with someplace...

Re: Which battery?

Whatever battery, you get, keeping it charged can be tough. (However, I'll give you one solution that I've used for years with almost no problems, although not for CPAP.) I'm sure what you wrote will be of use to someone. I am not attempting to be rude. Truly. But I don't understand all the arcane ...

Re: Something new happening

If you can keep your wits about you, hold still, don't adjust anything and see if you can breathe normally and get air through the mask. Purse your lips and let air flow in your nose and out your mouth and feel with your hand to see how much air flow is available. Wear it for a while longer, take de...

Re: Best place in North America for sleep study?

One problem in the US is that if you don't have US insurance with an insurance company that has an agreement with the doctor or clinic, you'll get scammed on the billing. They will initially charge you twice or more what they pay the insurance company. You'll also end up getting billed twice for the...

Re: Please tell me this is normal!

Remember that it's a medical treatment, not a religion. Yes, you should use CPAP every time you sleep. However, if you decide you can't stand it and go without one night, you don't get excommunicated by the CPOPE and become forever damned. If you use or try to use your new CPAP machine on Monday thr...

Re: What do you use when you have no electricity?

I do pretty well without CPAP if I sleep on my side hugging a body pillow held between my legs to help me stay in that position. Sleeping on the stomach might help some people, but I can't sleep that way. I need to try sleeping on my side with my pulse oximeter sometime and see what happens.

If you don't do it right, it's very easy to find that your battery not actually working when you need it. Be sure to occasionally...

Playing with pulseox

I got a CMS-50D plus pulseox. I put it on and tried to see what I could do to change my readings. I tried holding my breath and couldn't lower it more than a point or two down to 93 or so. I even tried putting on my mask and hose not connected to the machine and breathed that way for a while and fel...

Re: Anyone ever break their CMS50F pulse oximeter?

Doesn't help you, but at least I can report that the CMS-50D plus has a standard mini-USB plug and is reasonably idiot proof. It's a shame they wouldn't use an idiot proof connector on the 50F.

Re: medical assistant

Mike, I can understand spamming in an effort to boost your search engine ratings, at least on some level, but what is the story behind all the spam email? How does one profit from sending out email that no one reads? The e-mail gets sent in mass quantities, often on "zombie" PC's belonging to other...

Re: bipap, high pressure, swollen ankles

I usually sleep in a recliner. With one recliner, my legs would swell. With another recliner, no swelling. It would take a few days for it to go away when I got out of the "bad" recliner. Try sleeping in a different position, putting a pillow under one or both legs, etc. Perhaps something about your...

Re: New User with Question about Pressure

Sleeping in the lab is different from sleeping at home. Usually, sleep at home is better, but not always. It often takes a little tinkering. Sometimes, minor changing of masks, sleeping positions, etc. can make a difference. It often takes a little time. What flavor of Resmed S9 machine do you have?...

Re: "lecture"

Tell your audience that therapy is not something done to patients. It is something patients do. Give realistic information about the dangers of PAP therapy. There are many in the industry who have a wildly exaggerated notion of of how dangerous it is. This leads them to exclude patients from partic...

Re: "lecture"

Be sure the patient feels welcome to call you with problems. Maybe even ask the patient if he minds you calling him after a few days and ask him how it's going. Nothing like a little personal contact to make the paying customer keep coming back. Of course, you run the risk of a patient who calls you...
