[quote="cmichels"]I tried the PM Positioner for two weeks. It did not work for me. Granted you can make adjustments to it over time that moves the jaw forward, but after one round of adjustments it was clear it wasn't going to work. I am going to an apap today. The dentist who fitted me for the appl...

as a registered user you are at the very least a consistent persona here with a trackable history of posts/viewpoints. Instead of someone who just hits and runs with comments out of the blue. That can be the difference between a heckler and a simply opinionated person. (yah, I probably fall into the...

stealth versus anonymous
its his choice, but i think throwing out the "job at risk" is a pretty silly line of reason. I must say I have dropped out of here and cut way back at times just because I got tired of getting hammered for having some new viewpoints. But I usually wander back and see if there is something I can add ...

I was hoping that getting my apnea taken care of was going to help my problem of falling asleep in my engineering meetings. And indeed overall I have much more energy and alertness. But alas, I have discovered those meeting are just plain BORING and could knock out a meth addict on a run. But at lea...

Hylands Restful Legs
Call it snake oil, if you wish. (jump right in snoredog ) But I have been experimenting with the Hylands "Restful Legs" homeopathic treatment recently for my MILD and SPORADIC RLS. Sleep doc said my RLS showed up in some sleep studies and not in others, and of course had no explanation. I did NOT li...

I assume its the same no matter the exact technique of saline flush. Make sure to use PLENTY of solution and make sure to get ALL of the solution and anything broken up out also. I hang my head down and swoop it up a few times to shake it all out after Vigorous blowing out solution(etc) during the r...

A few years ago I tried qigong (a simplified form of taiji) and really enjoyed it, ..... quigong is also an EXCELLENT form to ease into exercise. It does a LOT for flexiblity, self-healing, and internal energy. We often start out my tai chi class with some Qigong exercises. Some Qigong classes are ...

Re: What about yoga?
What about yoga? Does it burn calories? I am regularly visiting my 85-year old mom in an assisted living facility and have become aware of how many elderly people fall. For many these falls make their last days on earth miserable (and shorten their lives). I have been told yoga can dramatically imp...

I am of the belief that you will only keep up exercise if you can find something you ENJOY, and any supplemental exercise to make the enjoyable exercise easier. I do Taiji, which is good for balance and keeping the joints moving, but doesn't burn much calories. Easy martial arts training too, if you...

Fascinating.... I have been wondering when someone would try the dental devices combined with CPAP. Seems like it SHOULD help, even if it doesn't eliminate the need for CPAP. Check out the Somnogard AP for $160 and no prescription required. A bit bulky and not as much travel as the custom ones, but ...

$100? Heck thats about the cost of a tank of gas these days! Definitely less than a heated hose accessory for CPAP, or even a single of the many masks you will need to try, even with good internet deals. A friend of mine is "employment challenged" and has no insurance. He took the gamble and picked ...

very interesting One important info is missing though: what is the cost of TAP? TAP (or similar) is NOT a cheap "experiment"! You really should go through a certified sleep dentist with TMJ specialty also and the prices vary WIDELY for the "installed price". And you really have to ASK what is inclu...

TAPped out
I think I am coming up on 6 months or so of success with a dental device. (TAP Titanium in my case). I had really tried EVERY trick in the book with CPAP for a few years before going the dental route (TWO machines and maybe 10 or so masks...etc) a dental device is definitely NOT for everyone.....but...

how about using those hiking handwarmers placed under the HH to heat it up? I think they are good for 4 hours, so just have an extra one handy to snap open when one cools off. They kick off a suprising amount of heat. Might be worth a try. The other more costly experimental option is to TRY a cheap ...
