Re: World Record For Sleep Apnea
On my side I averaged 93 an hour, on my back something like 123 an hour. Basically I was not breathing about 1/3 of the time I was asleep. A friend asked me the other day how it felt to have apnea -- told them to hold their breath for one minute and then breathe for 2 minutes, they said that wasn't ...

Re: Booger-Pillow eardrum blow-out question
Interesting -- I find almost the exact opposite -- with the Aloha I hit the mask fit and it comes up full pressure (12) and if I have it fitted right and have no leaks I don't notice ANYTHING -- have to reach up and check the exhaust and make sure the machine came on. Yawn?? What's a yawn?? Oh yeah,...

Re: sleepweaver
If it works for you it is one of the most comfortable masks made, IMHO. The caveat is if it works for you -- leaks can be an issue and for most folks it either works or it doesn't -- no in between and no real adjusting it to tweak it and get it to work. It is still probably my primary mask of choice...

Re: How many different masks did you try?
Let's see, I went through 9 or 10 on the way to the two I switch between now. Spent the first month or so in one mask, then tried about 7 or 8 over the next 5 or 6 weeks and then settled into the Sleepweaver for over a year before adding the Aloha to the mix. Right now I'm probably split 50/50 betwe...

So I take it my experience with my sleep doc is not typical?? That's really a shame because, IMHO, this is how it really OUGHT to work EVERY TIME. Saw Sleep Doc -- she suspected OSA based on referral from my other doc. Explained in detail sleep study, how it worked and what they expected to see from...

Re: NEW SleepWeaver Advance soft nasal mask!
Tip10, I am guessing you received the mask in updated packaging, however I do not think you have a mask with the most recent seal change. Circadiance has made several changes to the mask over the past 6 months. The first change was the headgear update. They then updated the packaging to the box wit...

Re: NEW SleepWeaver Advance soft nasal mask!
To each their own. I'm not sure I'd label this as "new and improved" -- new YES, improved - Not necessarily! From my experience I'm having MORE difficulties with the "new and improved" mask. Still able to use it but am not getting as good a seal with the new as I did with the old. Still acceptable a...

Re: Noob Realizes He Needs To Pay More Attention
So a few questions: A lot of folks here mention having spare cpap units. Do you buy these yourself or does insurance cover them? Is there a "standard" time that one should be going back for follow-up studies? How often does everyone replace the masks, tubes, etc (whether or not insurance covers)? I...

Re: Has anyone ever received a DME bill like this one?
The first thing that jumps out at me is the one non-allowed amount written up as a charge and not a write down -- all non-allowances should be credits (or writedowns) to the total -- not charges inflating the total -- they are already included in the inflated prices in the total. But yeah -- it'd be...

Re: Told not to download my own data
I'd ask that tech three questions: 1) do you purposely mislead and misinform your patients? 2) are you that uneducated that you actually believe such actions will indeed void the warranty of the machine? 3) are you spouting the company line in order to maintain continued employment and are you willi...

Anybody else find it interesting that the original Occupy Wall Street protests were organized and instigated by a Canadian activist group called Adbusters?

Re: OT: What changes to the air does natural gas cause?
They add a component to natural gas to give it an unmistakable, strong odor. If you had a gas leak in your apartment, you would smell it. You would want to open a window. Neighbors in the same building would probably smell it. If your windows were closed, the smell would get stronger and stronger a...

Re: Advice Needed on Data with SleepWeaver Mask
Yeah Xena -- that's been my experience with the SW -- it either works for you or it doesn't. Not been much I could do tweaks wise to make it any appreciably better. About all I can say is once I've got it on and snugged up if I grab the hose and move it around and I don't get any blow-outs either to...

Re: Advice Needed on Data with SleepWeaver Mask
Xena Your leak line profile looks very similar to mine -- the levels are a bit of a different story though. I have three separate SW masks with -- one where the profile sits centered about the 3 or 4 mark, with the second it sits centered about the 10 or 12 mark and with the third it sits centered a...

Re: Daylight Savings time and the S9
(At least they aren't claiming the wrong time setting will kill you... ) Ahhh... yes, but just remember to change out the Summer Air for the Winter Air in your car tires. Most people forget to do that and it is a safety issue on the road. Any good tire dealer can help you. Or call me, I'll be glad ...
