Re: Sleep Apnea cause chronic muscle cramps in arms and legs?
Like goofproof, I take magnesium and that keeps leg and toe cramps from happening. If I go several days without the cramps come back, and I'm up in the evening or, worse yet, during the night walking the floor to get rid of it. Suggest starting out at 400 or 500mg (usually one pill). Magnesium can c...

Re: SEMI-OT: My Jonah has apnea (adenoids)
Sorry to hear about Jonah. And at 2.5 years no less. Because you know about apnea Jonah is lucky. Some parents would miss that. My tonsils and adenoids came out at 7. Mom noticed that I was hard of hearing... turning up the TV all the time. Probably made a family Dr appointment about that. Dr poked ...

Re: How to approach doc about trying a-pap.
There is another cpap support called Apneaboard. You can goggle them and register. After you register, you will have access to the section containing instructions on how to get to the clinician's menu of the most commonly used machines. Then you can change your machine from constant to Auto. At Apne...

Re: Peripheral Neuropathy Improvement?
Squid, You were right about the mcg. The "Spring Valley" brand from Walmart is what we have. The B-6 (according to the label) is 100mg, but the B-12 contains 1000mcg. So, I would need to take 2 tablets of this B-12 to equal the 2 MG in the Metanx formula. Perhaps the ratio of each item the the other...

Re: Peripheral Neuropathy Improvement?
Thank you for all the information. I've searched on PN before and not found much here. I had Sensory PN a year before being diagnosed with OSA in 2010 (O2 was 82%). The prickly feeling stayed in my feet for 6 months. Then it moved rapidly up to my hips, and from fingertips to shoulders in a week. Th...

Metanx is the brand name of a multivitamin manufactured by Pamlab. Each Mentax tablet contains 25 mg of vitamin B-6, 2.8 mg of folic acid and 2 mg of vitamin B-12. Generally, these vitamins work by increasing the blood flow to your nerves. Mentax is a prescription medication, only available under a...

It all adds up to face shape, nose shape, if your sinus are open or you have to breath through your mouth. No one's mentioned the nasal pillow kind of headgear. See the Opus 360 below. If you don't have trouble breathing through your nose, try one like this. I like the 360 because the hose is out of...

Not to upstage you... This may give you an idea about how your area may stack up against another area per population. I live in Iowa in a small city of about 9,000 population. and the county population in 2011 was 16,815. One day during 2011's flu season the drug store in our grocery filled 800 'scr...

Re: No data type machines
Black Spinner, Perhaps he wants to avoid those machines that are "Bricks". Most of the models (regardless of manufacturer) only record times used. Your Dr will have to write the prescription specifically for a "fully Data-capable" machine if you want one... at least that is what I've heard from my D...

Re: Chin Strap or Full Face Mask
Snorkelpuss, Have been a hose head nearly 3 years. Asked my Sleep Dr/Neurologist the same question. He advised to use a chin strap. A full face mask has it's own problems and leaks you would have to deal with. If you are not mouth breathing because of sinus problems Dr advised to stick with current ...

Todzo. A sister-in-law went through 3 labs without being titrated. They sent her home with a bipap. No experience. No support! After a 3 month struggle she gave up, and gave it back to the DME. Swears she would rather die in her sleep than wear the thing. If people don't have the positive attitude, ...

Re: Suggestions for a newbie buying a mask?
Also, since my titration study was dismal, he may start me on a trial apap (is that the right word...it adjusts the pressure within a predetermined range) for a few months. Yes, Fishy, that's right. Automatic Positive Airway Pressure. I had a dismal experience with the lab, and was never titrated. ...
