Re: So angry with my DME....
So am I as well as the sleep clinic I'm working with. I called my DME today since the resident at the sleep clinic told me that i might need to look for 'alternatives' to the apap if it's not helping me. So i had to call the DME to find out what type of timeline we're talking about. I asked her if s...

Re: Fighting for a better Machine
Is the policy "30 days" for masks and equipment?? Yikes, all along i thought it was "90 days"!!! Gosh, the sleep clinic told me to come back 4 wks after using the machine. Well I have the same issue w/ EO. My MD appt isn't for another few wks (and it takes along time to secure an appt). And what hap...

Re: amazed at this person quitting therapy
I don't think we shd be that harsh with them, whatever their professions are. Like the other post says, many physicians don't know much abt sleep apnea. Secondly, I consider myself quite disciplined and determined and after 3 wks on apap, I've struggled and it really tested my patience and will. As ...

Re: apap machine usage--worst than my WORST night w/o a machine?
Update--it'll be 3 wks this Sun on apap. I'm still not having much improvement. In fact, I took the advice of using it for a couple hours at nite and have been yanking off the mask alot. This isn't good. I keep trying to trace the SOURCE of my problem: a. mask? b. pressure? c. other? I can't really ...

Re: Anyone w/ "complex apnea"? Events possible awake?
@Pugsy--Ok, I'll have my hubby help me with this. I started work again this wk and have been working days and some nights so quite exhausted. What makes it more complicated is that I prefer using my desktop, however, the 'card reader' on the desktop was a lemon and doesn't read my ResMed data card, ...

Re: Need support
@Sleepy: I have also had my machine for 2 wks now. I have the same problem as you. I feel worst and exhausted w/ the mask than the worst nights w/o. The 1st week i had the machine hooked for the entire night. Then i was told to acclimate to it, using it for fewer hours, even 2 per day. i think the m...

Re: If one buys an APAP, will Medicare pay for supplies?
So Medicare will pay for the home sleep study. What about the type where you stay overnight? I guess on my next appt to the pulmonologist I can also ask him. That is if i can motivate my old-schooled uncle to actually go and need to accompany him to translate.

Re: POLL: How long do you think you had SA before you 'knew'?
Well I had "insomnia" for 20+ yrs. When I was in high school, I started having insomnia, but didn't think much of it. Thought it was anxiety that came w/ struggling in an ultra-competitive HS, etc. But had lived in an older apt in SF for 20 yrs and had alot of "enviornmental" noises (ie sirens, ambu...
