Re: ASV Complex Sleep Apnea question

Hi Kody, I have CSA and unless I am sick my average is below 4 as you can see in my sig. I start feeling not rested if it goes to 4 and up. If it does go above 4, it means I have a cold.

Re: Having ACL surgery - any advice?

I should add, I was a 44 year old post doc at the time. There was a professor with an office across from mine who had his surgury a couple weeks after mine. He did not do the leg elevation. He decided to get on his feet and go to a professional meeting right as soon as he could walk. Guess who ended...

Re: Having ACL surgery - any advice?

I had an ACL resection in 1981 after partially popping it playing racquet ball, but with no soft tissue damage. Later in 2000 I got a bucket tear while pitching softball. My advice is. For the first 3-5 days keep that knee above your heart every moment of every day!!! At least for the first few days...

Re: SPO2 for Moonlight Hike at 10,000 ft

I wanted to update you guys. I did this again in February at the full moon with a friend. We did it faster but I was pretty pooped afterwards. I just went up again last Friday, March 9, for another moon lit snow shoeing episode. This time I had no oximeter along but it was easy. I was in front and w...

Re: A Night in Hospital with CPAP

RocketGirl I was following along after a hiatus. First the shock of the news and then the relief of seeing that your heart is not just good but provably good. Please let us know how the chest pain proves out. My brother had chest pains a few years back. They finally told him it was strained muscles ...

Re: A Night in Hospital with CPAP

RocketGirl, best wishes for your continued health. By way of humor, here is a story from my college years. I got a job as an orderly in an intensive care wing for mostly heart patients one summer, thanks to a recommendation from my nursing friends. I learned a huge amount that summer. I did a lot of...

Re: Link between GERD and Sleep Apnea

I have probably had GERD long before I started having problems with CSA. I really suggest raising the head of your bed by six inches. !!! It made a tremendous difference with just a couple days for me. Downside is I have to sleep on my back or the GERD comes back. However, I now typically do not hav...

Re: Tonight's my first-year anniversary on CPAP

Congrats on making it a year! These especially resonated with me... ... It took me 3 months to consistently able to wear mask at least four hours/night and 4 months to be able to sleep at least four hours/night with it on. In the meantime, I did have little moments that encouraged me to keep trying....

Re: Help: New ASV user. Here's my story.

I have to have a colonoscopy and an endoscopy on Thursday. I just realized that I have to have sedation. Is it OK to have sedation with central apnea? Thanks. wB Be certain you discuss this with your doctor. Explain that you will need ventilation during the procedure. Be VERY clear about this. Expl...

Re: I'm a light sleeper and my boyfriend needs CPAP

A CPAP machine makes white noise. Well pink noise with rhythms if you want to get technical but whatever. I would hold off on the noise generator until you know you need it. I have a cat that is a true light sleeper and thinks its her job to watch after me while I'm sleeping as well as absorbing an...

Obliquely topical, too.
That started me coughing.
It could refer to the appearance of your significant other all masked up; a petrifying sight? Or it could be how you look when you wake up with your hose curled all around your neck.

An AHI of 2.7 is not bad. I range from 1 to 4 and above that, its awful. I don't feel like I slept. Welcome and I think you are on the right track.

Re: What exactly is a troll?

I once had a college room mate who would not stoop to trolling on-line. But if a salesman called, the gloves were off. He would try to waste as much of the salesman's time as possible. That was his entertainment.
