MASK CLEANING WIPES

Post by louspeachy » Thu Jun 09, 2011 7:57 am

I was just wondering if anyone uses the mask cleaning wipes, either scented or unscented. I never have before but if they work and save me a bit of time taking the mask apart to clean it so often, I would be willing to do so.

Thanks,
Louise

Lou
You don't need to take your mask apart all the time, and you can use UNSCENTED baby wipes for those in between cleanings.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

I was just going to ask a similar question. I use "CPAP Mask Wipes" available from DME. They work very well, but they are pricey - $12 for 62 wipes. Hopefully, someone will have a more economical substitue.

I starting using mask wipes instead of washing my nasal pillows every day and find I get a consistently much better seal.

I cut the wipes in half as they are pulled from the container.

I use baby wipes as well. For me, they work BETTER than the cpap mask wipes that are so costly.

I buy Target brand unscented baby wipes by the case (I use them to wipe my hands sometimes at my desk too). I can get a case of 9 packages (88 wipes per pack) for about $14.

If you look closely at my equipment cart, you will see box of baby wipes right on it.

Target or Wal-Mart generic unscented baby wipes.
I use a whole one, wipe everything on the mask, then my face.
Used to do it in the morning only, but now also in the evening: It moistens the mask and my face so they stick together better.
I love my complexion.

I use the pampers unscented "sensitive skin" wipes. Be sure you get wipes that have no alchohol or aloe in them. The alchohol will deteriorate the mask and the aloe will leave a film. I wipe the sealing area of the mask every morning along with the lense. Then on Saturday, I scrub the mask with a toothbrush in a baby shampoo and water solution, soak the mask for a few hours and rinse real well. This has worked for me for over a year.

I use the Control II wipes from Amazon. Mostly because I actually like that disinfectant smell, but also because they sell the containers in 3-packs =)

I use CVS brand baby wipes for sensitive skin, they have no alcohol or aloe in them. They cost about $3.00 for 72. I use a whole one every night before my put my mask on, first I clean the nasal pillows mask and then I clean my face, esp upper lip and slightly into nostrils where the pillows rest, just to be sure I have gotten any saline or Lansinoh I may have used out of the way. Wait a few minutes to dry it, then put on mask. BTW, I have nasal allergies to pollen, dust, etc and usually have to use nasal spray or Neti pot before application of mask, so cleaning with wipe into the beginning of both nostrils gets any of that solution still hanging around.

I found a CPAP Mask Cleaning wipe for a great price. Instead of paying almost $10 for a canister, I found the wipes on dutchharborbrands website for only $7.59 FOR 62. There were great! Biodegradable, All Natural Ingredients, 100% cotton and no unpleasant odor!! Doesn't get much better than that!!!!!!!!1

Check out Walgreens unscented wipes, 78 for less than four dollars. Sometimes on sale two for five dollars. Use one daily to clean my mask and CPAP machine.

Drugstore has World of Wipes Mask Wipes ($6.99 for 62). You need to buy at least 4 in order to get free shipping:
