Re: OT - Amazon refuses to do a telephone order
It had nothing to do with the location of the telephone rep, at least not in this case. Amazon and a couple of other companies are reeling from a security breach caused by someone attempting to reverse-engineer account access via false credit/debit card information. They've temporarily suspended pho...

Re: Cozy Hose Boss
Heck, that might work. If you hit the power button, the sudden loss of pressure would certainly wake you up LOLDenial Dave wrote: Heck, I smacked the top of the CPAP machine when the alarm clock went off this morning.

Re: Cozy Hose Boss
I use a similar device (our sponsors sell one) that is a collapsing aluminium pole with a base that slips between the mattress and box spring. Same principal, but seems to work better when I'm on the road.
I will very much agree that devices like these have make CPAP a *lot* better for me!

Re: Sleepyead used, now card unreadable?
My guess is that it is a Mac. The "ejected the card" thing is kind of a giveaway =) Yes, Mac's write metadata to cards you insert. For a PC, Linux, or another Mac, this is not a problem, but for the ResMed machines it's a BIG problem. Just flip the little toggle switch on the card to Locked or Read ...

Re: If buy your own cpap, does insurance cover hose, mask, etc?
I can only speak to my own experience. I went to the Sleep Doc, got an Rx, and my DME (Apria) got me my first machine and supplies. About a half-year in, I bought my own machine to get some extra features. Apria continued to supply supplies, and my insurer continued to pay for them. So, while you ne...

Re: SoClean?
Yes, that's what I was thinking. I've seen a lot of negative stuff about ozone in general, as it's extremely reactive and can cause respiratory issues. Plumbing it though the CPAP (which you breathe through all night) seems odd.

Re: SoClean?
It's just another option. Ozone *does* destroy bacteria and virus cells extremely well. I'd use soap and water, but this is another type of cleaning.
However, I'm not so sure about having an ozone generator in the house...

SoClean?
Has anyone had any issues with the SoClean CPAP cleaner? I'm a little worried because "activated oxygen" is a marketing term for ozone, which most doctors keep telling me I should avoid when possible since I have breathing issues (specifically OA and mild asthma). If it works, and it's safe, I'm all...

Re: Sore top of nose
For me, it happens any time I change the cushion. I picked up a nose-bridge pad (our sponsors sell a couple of models) and use it for the first few nights with the new cushion, after which the irritation doesn't seem to be a problem. I should also point out that I had to use the pad for the first fo...

Re: Thoughts on the respironics fitlife full face mask?
I've had to increase my pressure by 2cm/h2O to have it work properly with the Quattro and keep my numbers down. That's not the case for everyone, but might let you continue using that mask and getting the results you need.

Re: Questions to ask...
You should definitely ask for a copy of your prescription (after they do the titration sleep study and get the results). This will let you go to any DME your insurance provider allows. Also ask the doctor to prescribe an auto-titrating machine with full efficacy data recording, by name, in the Rx. O...

Re: Aliens or true events?
I think it might be a bug in SleepyHead, I had the same thing happen to me about 2 weeks back. Suddenly no flow and high events for several minutes, then everything was fine.
Hasn't re-occurred though.

Vicks (Kaz) Scent Pads experience
Hi folks: Probably been discussed before, but found a nifty trick. I have a sinus infection going (very mild, no worries) and the post-nasal drip is making me cough at night. So, before CPAP I would use vicks vapo-rub and the camphor and eucalyptus would very effectively calm the cough so I could sl...
