Re: ReUsable Home Sleep Test - Aetna
It's an accelerometer, actually. That's not the name of the device itself, but rather the gizmo inside of devices that is constantly aware of position and movement. If you have an iPhone or Android phone, you have one in there - it's how the phone figures out if you're holding it up and down or side...

Re: confused why ahi jumped
It could be perfectly normal. I know that for the first few weeks on CPAP I was all over the map (AHI-wise), and even over a year into therapy I still have nights where it jumps up. What issues are you having on the Mac? I use OS X myself, and have gotten SleepyHead to work for data tracking. Happy ...

Re: need help using cpap thru the whole night...
You don't say how long you've been using the mask, which could be an important part of the equation. The human mind is an odd thing, until it recognizes something as "safe and normal" it will do everything to remove whatever the object is from you =) However, after a few weeks, the mask gets marked ...

Did you wash the hose or mask before the first use? It could actually just have been a little water stuck in a fold or crevice of the mask or hose =)Roxy wrote:Last night was the first time it was used. The unit is higher than the bed. I will try to experiment with the humidity settings

Re: First night results
If they're happening right when you turn it on, it could also be condensation in the host after last night's use. Ensure that you allow the system to continue blowing air after you shut it off in the AM. The ResMed machines (and I'm pretty sure most others) do this automatically, and it dries up the...

My pressure is variable 14-20. Would this be low enough to forgo ramping It's a person-by-person thing. My minimum is 15, and I use a 5-minute ramp just so it's not all at once. I'm very much awake at 15, and find it not uncomfortable at all. Others find 8 or 9 uncomfortable, so your mileage may va...

Re: Full face masks causing increase in AHI?
Personally, I do need a slightly higher pressure with my FFM than I did on Nasal. I don't know exactly why, and it's only about 1 cm/H20, but I need that pressure bump to keep my AHI below 1. Your mileage may vary. As to why? My guess is the increased surface area causes the PAP to need more pressur...

Re: First night results
Hiya! Well, I can't speak to the ramp issue, as I have a 5 min ramp myself, but I have a hint for the bathroom =) When I need to get up to use the bathroom, I just leave the mask in-place and remove the hose from it. Many masks have quick-release tube connectors for just that purpose. When you get b...

Very strange night!
Hi everybody: I woke up this AM with a much higher AHI than normal (6.6, when normally I'm at <1), a leak number of 110 (but a green smiley) and a sore throat. Note that the sore throat started before I went to bed, so may have nothing to do with xPAP therapy. Checked the data in sleepyhead, and *ac...

Re: Backup Machine: How do you choose one?
I did the opposite of most. I used some Flexible Savings Account money that I was about to lose and bought a much higher-end machine for daily use. I then took the machine I got from my doc/DME and made that one my backup/travel machine =) I purchased the new one from our hosts, if that helps. In my...

Usually that means you have some major leaks going on. Do you move around a lot when you sleep? Change positions often? Sleep on your side or stomach?

Re: 3 weeks new user, average pressure decreasing
it's certainly possible. Mine fluctuates quite a bit, from 15 to 17.5. Things like stress, allergies, humidity in the room and other factors can easily have an impact on your OSA in general, and therefore your pressure on an auto-set machine.

Re: Unfortunate
I'm a Mac guy (yes, it's a cult, we have jackets and special badges) and run into this all the time. Apple, as you may know, sets minimum prices that retailers are bound to for as long as that particular piece of hardware is available for sale from Apple themselves. That's why you never see huge sal...

Re: What test should I ask for?
I can speak to the dire warning messages from Windows: The downloaded software alert message comes up any time you download anything from anywhere that isn't a Microsoft site. That means even if the software is perfectly safe, the warning still pops up if you try to run an executable file downloaded...
