Re: Men with mustaches & beards: Which masks seal on you?
I used nasal pillows since day one. Haven't had any issues with the mustache.

Re: Aromatherapy with CPAP machines.
My wife bought some lavender pillow spray she doesn't like.
I spray it on a cottonball and it works just fine. Just a hint of lavender comes through. Can't wait to try it at the hotel this weekend. Hopefully it will cover up that stale smell.
I'm going to get some eucalyptus oil next.

Re: Sleepy after using CPAP the first couple nights?
You know, I'm down to about 8 hours a night myself. Strange how you don't really notice these things till someone else mentions it.
I was exhausted the first few nights as I fought the mask. Then it slowly started getting better.

Re: Great AHI but low Oxygen - Help!
I have the same problems. No real cause has been found. The pulmonologist thinks a little fluid builds up at night.... 2 liters of oxygen takes care of it. AHI runs < 2 all night every night. Sleep doc likes the graphs.

Re: Nuvigil side effect
Sorry. I didn't have that problem. But it did make me jittery the first few days. Now its leveled off. Don't feel "stimulated", but don't fall asleep during the day either.

Re: any ideas on why I don't feel better with cpap?
I didn't think I was feeling any better until I had to spend a week without my cpap.... By the end of the week I was a shambling mess.
I still have EDS and am taking nuvigil for it. It doesn't make me wired, but helps not falling asleep.

I had to change it from 3 to 2 to be comfortable. The 3 setting just rushed my exhale too much.

Re: Pressure of 4 cm - Subtherapeutic?
4 isn't too low. I have a range of 4 to 8 with an average around 6. My AHI stays under 2. Doesn't always seem to need a lot of pressure to keep things open.

SNRI and REM state
My Neuro doc confirmed that SNRIs do cause shorter and less vivid REM periods. I can tell you from experience that if I miss a day of the SNRI, then I have rebound that night.

Still have Excess Daytime sleepiness
So its time for Nuvigil.... I have been close to 100% compliant since February 14, 2011 and have noticed improvements like its easier to wake up in the morning. But still very sleepy and foggy during the day. Some of this could be due to the SNRI that I take as well. I did miss last week due to a ca...

Re: More fatigue after using CPAP
I can't say that I feel any better after 3 months. Actually, I wake up multiple times a night now. But, my oxygen levels are much better. The cpap wasn't to make me feel better per se, but to help my heart out.

Re: Shingles Vaccination (Herpes Zoster Vaccination)
I had the shingles along the 9th nerve root. Think just above the navel. Pain was horrible. Started by feeling like I had been impaled, then spread between the two spots.
As I understand, once you have had an outbreak, you can't have the vaccine.
