Re: AHI

Just started treatment last night with resmed. The machine varies throughout the night based on my sleep. When I woke after a 9 hour sleep, it has a reading telling me my mask fit was good throughout the night and my AHI was 0.3 Sounds like you hit a grand slam. Congratulations. Let us know how you...

Re: Mouth Drying Out ??

This is a common problem. I hope you are using the full face mask shown in your equipment profile and not a nasal interface. Nasal interfaces allow the therapeutic pressure to escape when you mouth breathe. I use Biotene gel before going to bed. The trick is to place it between the upper teeth and t...

Re: Another approach to Provent

I feel that many cpap users are ultra-skeptical about Provent for three reasons. The first is the result of the aggressive and questionable advertising campaign for Provent. The second is because of the lack of feedback in the form of flowcharts and numbers from an attached or nearby device, measur...

No need to apologize. That attitude is not inconsistent with the "collective wisdom of this group". Most of us believe decisions are ultimately the responsibility of each individual.

Re: Another approach to Provent

Sounds like a great way to avoid carrying a little case and ruin a vacation. Do you plan to thoroughly test Provent at home before vacation time arrives? What does "relatively mild" mean? What are the numbers? AHI, RDI, O2 desats? He called me an "ideal case" for trying Provent, because my apnea is ...

Re: Can a Hiatus Hernia be caused by years of high pap pressure?

20cm/h2o (<.25 psi) is not real high pressure and wouldn't have caused it and wouldn't be over-inflating your stomach. To say that CPAP pressure is "not real high" means nothing without context. If you are comparing it to underwater diving you are correct. The deep end of the pool I use is 18 feet....

It already exists - http://www.proventtherapy.com/index.php

It has a manual air pump.

Re: My experience with Provent

No Kudos to you for insinuating a respected researcher did nothing more. Why so sensitive as to insinuate I insulted Rapoport? Is he you supervisor? Just for the record I did not criticize Dr. Rapoport's work, did not know the name until you inserted it, and don't remember ever having read a single...

Re: CPAP goes on and off

First thing to check:

The machine has "Auto On" and "Auto Off" features. These should be set as follows:

"Auto On" - Set to "On"

"Auto Off" - Set to "Off"

Check that your settings are correct. See page 8 of this manual - http://respironicsremstars.respironics. ... Manual.pdf

Re: Who do you wear it for?

I was going to say only for myself because I am single (so far) but I like these ideas also: I wear mine for the Good People of the U.S.A., to help keep their medical Ins payments down, unlike Obama, my point in life isn't to spend as much of others money as I can, that'ds why I didn't marry his wif...

Re: Melatonin

Hey there NightMonkey, Yes, I have but I'm trying to interpret the data now. It seems the leak rate is high so am trying to work out the reason for it. My doctor here has prescribed Benzalin/Nitrazepam for me, but would like to get off it. My problem is falling asleep, it usually takes time...so I ...
