Checking in...

Post by Tash » Thu Dec 29, 2005 8:58 am

Hi all! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanza. I was more active this Christmas, and actually stayed awake for all of the activity, so it was a win for me (and my family).

I am still anxiously awaiting the arrival of my heated hose and smart card reader. I am doing better incrementally (I would place myself in the "basic treatment" category, but at least I'm no longer "the walking dead").

I got brave last night and actually bent the metal wires in the pillows portion of my Aura to reduce leaks (I know, how brave do you hafta' be? I was SO afraid I would break it or puncture it... ) It was the best night of sleep I think I've had yet. I also fell asleep on my back and didn't move. I have found it is when I roll to my side that I get the unexpected nasal rinse/Chinese water torture (again, can't wait for the heated hose to arrive).

I also completed the paperwork for my insurance appeal. I called on Tuesday and was assigned a "Care Customer Service Agent" (which, I think translates to "pain in the a** patient won't quit bugging us") when I requested to speak with a supervisor. She played nicer than the other people I have spoken to at Cigna, but gave me the analogy at the end of my explanation of why I felt the Remstar Auto w/ C/flex was the correct machine for my treatment of "Some people get to drive Cadillacs, and some have to drive Fords" - I told her that Cigna was AT LEAST responsible for paying for the Ford, and we could discuss the Cadillac. (I was grateful for the quick comeback...) Anyhow, I'll fax all the info today, and wait and see what happens.

Regardless, I am starting to feel human again, and that is worth every penny.

Best wishes for "mental zest" for all in the New Year!

Breathing is not a "luxury".

OK, in a sense it IS. They want to sell you a Pinto. All you're asking for is a Pinto with ADJUSTABLE air conditioning. Not even a Taurus or a Mustang GT. I bet they don't even want to include the "muffler" as standard equipment? That's not asking a lot.

...and Happy New Year / Bonne année / Godt Nytår / Shanah tovah / Gung hay fat choy / Xin nian y kuai / Buon Capo d'Anno / Feliz Año Nuevo / S Novym Godom / Hauoli Makahiki Hou to you !

** Just to clarify, that's what the Care CSA at Cigna told me, not my quote, but hers. I agree, breathing is not a luxury, and we should all be provided the best possible treatment. I will be relentless in getting them to pay their share of my so-called "Cadillac"
