Adjusting pressures Tranquility Bilevel 1700?

Post by leftysoftball » Sun Mar 27, 2011 9:41 pm

I'm new here so be gentle if I make a forum mistake. I have suffered from undiagnosed SA for well ove 15yrs. now. I finally caved and decided I needed help. Trouble is that I have no insurance after being "down-sized". My mom has SA and COPD and has used various machinges for the last 20yrs. She offered me her old Respironics Tranquility Bi Level 1706-10 along w/ all new gear (heated humidifier, tubing, full mask and headgear). Now comes the rub....I can't afford a sleep study or any other doc. appt. for that matter, but desperatley want to feel better.
I am asking for a link to the service manual so I can "play" w/ the settings to suit what I think are my needs or instructions how to program the BiPap myself. I realize this is a no no but desperate times call for desperate measures. Than you so much.

hold the up and down arrow down at same time for 3-5 seconds, if that does noty work hold mode button and both up and down button (all 3) increase pressures in small increments.

Wulfman - I would appreciate the link for the Tranquility 1700 Bi - level Service Manual. I was given a new machine by my brother-in-law. For some reason after he received the 1700 his Dr wanted him to use a different machine, so I got the left-over. I would like to be able set up the machine and perform minor maintenance. Thank you very much, Bill

Here's the quick & dirty instructions to changing pressures. If you need more, it's in the complete manual.

Den

.

Chapter 4: System Setup Procedures

NOTE: This section provides directions for accessing the Therapy Menu. Prescribed therapy settings can
only be set using the Therapy Menu. (To prevent patients from tampering with the settings, the directions to access the Therapy Menu should not be revealed to the patient.)

CAUTION: If the Tranquility Bilevel System has been exposed to either very hot or very cold temperatures, allow
it to adjust to room temperature (approximately one hour) before beginning setup.

4.1 Pressure and Ramp Settings
The pressure and ramp settings for the unit are set using the Keypad on the bottom of the unit. When not in use the
Keypad Panel display will show the current compliance meter reading for the unit. This reading will reflect the total number
of hours that the patient has been breathing on the unit.
With the unit turned on and looking at the bottom, press the up and down arrow button simultaneously for three seconds and the pressure and ramp setting will be displayed. The IPAP Pressure setting will now be flashing. Press the up or down arrow button to change the setting. Press the mode button to move to EPAP setting. Press the up or down arrow to change the setting. Press the mode button to move to the ramp setting. Press the up or down arrow button to change the setting. The setting is implemented immediately when the up or down button is pressed.
Press the mode button for three seconds to lock the controls.
The display will revert to the compliance meter display 60 seconds after the last time a button has been pushed. The settings can only be changed if they are flashing, otherwise they are locked.

Note: Due to internal circuit design, the EPAP will automatically adjust to not allow for a greater than 7 cm H20 between IPAP and EPAP.

Could someone PM me the link for the Clinician & Service manual(s) for the Respironics Tranquility Bi level Model 1700?

I need to change some settings so I can use my old machine with my new pressures.

Thank you for your assistance.
