Re: Sticky: Phillips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread

I am going to remove my foam today, only thing I wonder about is was this foam intended to reduce noise or does it act as a filter also? I know I have a fliter that I change, but does this foam filter as well? will I be reducing the flitering of the air by removing it? My insurance provider BC/BS t...

Re: Sticky: Phillips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread

If someone removes the foam and they "think" the pressure is different they need to verify with a manometer and cross their fingers they didn't mess up the pressure sensors. Actually if I was going to go down the foam removal road I would verify pressures BEFORE and AFTER removal. Just "thinking" s...

Re: Sticky: Phillips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread

Just a suggestion. Don't put anything where the foam was and lower your usual settings by 2 or 3 cm and see how that works. Removal of the foam is not a reason to lower the pressure. The machine has pressure sensors that will maintain the correct fan speed. Of course, if you damage one of the press...

Re: Sticky: Phillips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread

Ok so I went into my dreamstation 1 bi/pap . I removed the foam like the Australian bloke in his video. Put it back together and the machine went into choo choo train mode . Meaning i couldn’t even keep my mask on. My usual settings are 17 in 15 out. I thought it would just stay at the same level b...

Re: Sticky: Phillips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread

The fact that the UK has played down the seriousness of the Dreamstation recall has ate at me all day. You know what they always say "Follow the Money." Number one, the UK Health Administration is not the Albert Einstein of all Health entities for one thing. They have had more problems with the Wuha...

Re: Sticky: Phillips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread

Davidtoo post_id=1388909 time=1625853283 user_id=98663 A reasonable approach is to pretend there is not an issue with the machines when Phillips has come out and admitted itself there are potential dangers caused by the foam? What do "ambulance-chasing lawyers" have to do with anything. You can be ...

Re: Sticky: Phillips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread

It is interesting how the UK could conclude that Philips’ own recall is not serious and null and void. Just keep using your machines that may cause cancer and or all the throat, nose, and skin irritation you have been experiencing is all in your mind. “The sky is not falling.” But then again, the En...

Re: Sticky: Phillips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread

I don't know how many have seen this, but The Medicine and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency is the UK's version of the FDA. They seem to be downplaying the risks of the foam. They cite "currently available data" to say several of the VOCs dissipate after 24 hours out of box. Another one is "wi...

Re: Sticky: Phillips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread

"Paranoia strikes deep, into your life it will creep........" Not saying you shouldn't be concerned about the foam in your CPAP or continue its use, but perhaps put things in proper perspective of other things around you which could potentially cause greater harm  . https://www.slee...

Re: Sticky: Phillips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread

I am in a tough situation here. I have a Phillips Respironics Bipap ST. I really need treatment. I was at a starting AHI of 69 and with treatment float between 4 and 10 on an average night. I have complex apnea. I am a CHF patient with moderate hypertension, dabetes, with back and knee issues. I ha...

Re: Sticky: Phillips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread

Just seeing all this. Can someone confirm for me this doesn't impact PR masks...? I don't see masks listed anywhere but want to double check. Thanks! I haven't heard anything related to masks with the exception of ResMed. In a Detail/Specification sheet ResMed states they do not use polyester foam ...

Re: Sticky: Phillips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread

I've read through all 39 pages and haven't seen this asked, so I hope I haven't missed it. I have a SystemOne A-Flex. I opened it up and pulled the offending sound dampening foam out. (Which is really easy and only took about 15 minutes total). With the foam out, what does everyone think about the ...
