Claustrophobia
Claustrophobia
I have been doing fine on CPAP since Nov. '10 but every once in a while I will put my mask on, lay down and then feel like I can't breathe. This is very unnerving and scary and for some reason or another it affects my belly and I get this horrible feeling. Any one else ever experience this?

Re: Claustrophobia
Personally, no. However, my sister did - so much so that she basically gave up. It wasn't until a year or two agi when she a another study and the dr explained to her what her OSA was doing and could do to her that she decide to do whatever it took to overcome her claustrophobia. For the most part, it was mind over matter - after a few months of xanax and/or valium to get her through the anxiety attacks. Now, at least from what shell tells us, she sleeps with her PAP every night! Yippee for her!
And here's wishing you the same success she had!
