Re: New Bipap user - UARS - seeking advice
I will lower the PS - would you go with ipap 11 epap 7? see attached for last night. I taped my mouth with somnifix tape so i dont think the centrals are mouth breathing. They are in fact centrals. thanks for all the help.

Re: New Bipap user - UARS - seeking advice
hello pugsy,
my sleep doc says those are not centrals and that i am mouth breathing. says there were no centrals when they titrated me. does that seem plausible?

New Bipap user - UARS - seeking advice
Long time UARS sufferer (tried almost everything). Was recently titrated using a PES and was titrated on a bipap. My pressure was 14 ipap and 7 epap. I have been on it a few weeks and I wasnt feeling any better. Frankly felt worse. So I downloaded oscar and looked at my numbers. Last night was a 51 ...

Doctors treating UARS. any suggestions
I have UARS. My doctors believe the APAP is treating my condition since my AHI is very low but I assume the pressure is not high enough. Does anyone know a Doctor that uses at PES to titrate the correct pressure to eliminate RERAs? Or just a Doctor that believes in titrating out all flow limitations...

Re: 5 reasons why UARS is harder to treat than apnea
But I still don't see where it has anything to do with the brain. Maybe if I explain how the brain is involved it will help you understand it a little easier. I use a little different wording but the content really means essentially the same as someguy34 was trying to say...or at least what I think...

Re: 5 reasons why UARS is harder to treat than apnea
big bigger biggest air blockage: uars hypop apnea that is wrong! UARS is the disease where your breathing center (in the brain / your nerves) is over-reacting - so it makes and sees problems, where simply there are none! before a hypopnea comes flowlimitations ... and somewhere around / between tha...

Re: Reasons for so many RERAs?
I believe that RERAS are MORE disruptive than OSA. The problem with OSA people is that they usually maintain sleep. The defining characteristic of a RERA, is that there is always an arousal at the end of it. The majority of pts I see are Medicare, COPD. Its very Common to have an AHI of 5 and an RD...

Re: Overcoming SDB / UARS
I have UARS. First diagnosed in Aug 2010. I have tried cpap, apap, bipap, asv, dental mouthpieces, surgery. I wish there was a magic bullet. I have yet to find one. My symptoms are worse in the summer or at high altitudes. uars appears to be the most difficult to treat based on reading these forums....

Re: Confused! No good CPAP pressure for RERA's!
I'm in the same boat as you. Multiple titrations. No pressure that alleviated reras. pap causes more arousals. I have tried cpap, apap and now ASV. also, mouthpieces made by dentists. None have worked. Sorry, not much help. I do not think sleep medicine has caught up to treating uars, maybe they don...

UARS titration
Does anyone have a Dr. they could recommend that will titrate for flow limitations / reras / uars? I have yet to find one in Tennessee. I am considering Mayo but interested in others thoughts that are effectively treating their uars.

Re: CPAP still not working so did an experiment
It didn't work for me either. Felt worse on pap than off. I chose to listen to my body over some poorly manufactured machine. I don't use the cpap. haven't in some time. I still have uars but I manage OK - eat healthy, practice sleep hygiene, exercise, all keys to having energy during the day.

Re: UARS, low numbers bad sleep, MMA, now on CPAP
I took prilosec but it really didn't seem to do a lot, and I worry that stomach acid is important for digestion - just don't want it to go where it ain't supposed to![*] Just a couple days ago I tried raising the head of my bed, perhaps I will raise it a bit more. My thoughts as well, about focusin...
