Re: Nuvigil vs Provigil
Discussion quoted is on the EDS (excessive daytime sleepiness) of narcolepsy, but principles may apply: "3.3. Modafinil/armodafinil . . . are best taken first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. If headaches occur, temporary adjustment of the dose is usually all that is required. Most patients...

Re: Negative home tests, a dud?
Palerider, Don't confuse the two concepts of "serious" and "urgent." Just sayin'. Although OSA may not technically be what they die from, as listed by the coroner, it can still be the cause of many of things people die from, as listed by the coroner. And just because the docs don't always recognize ...

Re: Looking for NYC area sleep stories (PAID video project)
You sound like a character though He's not in real life, but he tries to play one on the web. Q: Is it possible to have character and be a character at the same time? A: Yes, but the representation of it on film could turn out to be an uncharacteristic caricature. I only perform live or where I get...

I consider that a very reasonable approach, myself.sleepstar wrote: . . . Where I am, patients can use an automatic machine temporarily to find out their ideal pressure if they do have trouble with therapy. Their machine can then be adjusted. . . .

Re: Doc told me most people aren't interested in data
My rant wasn't directed at you, sleepstar. I have a feeling you are an exceptional player in a game that is still being invented and that isn't quite yet being played on a level field. If a patient refuses access to data even when reminded of its value, that is the patient's choice, not yours. No on...

Re: Doc told me most people aren't interested in data
Five percent? Sounds about right. Some might say that only around 5% of all patients are actually interested in their personal long-term health at all, for that matter, as far as that goes. But the thing is, that doesn't excuse the docs or mean docs should simply give up and then tacitly encourage p...

Re: Negative home tests, a dud?
Watching 40 minutes of sleep tells one nothing at all about possible OSA.
Perhaps less than nothing.
It is negative information.
It sucks any possible information right out of the universe and encrypts it with antimatter so that it can never be retrieved, in fact.

Re: Negative home tests, a dud?
A home sleep study CAN prove that you have OSA. (Reliable positive.) So it is a cheap "test" that can allow insurance to pay somewhat gladly. A home sleep test CANNOT prove that you do not have OSA. (Can't deliver negative findings, other than "don't know/not sure/couldn't find out.") That it is why...

. . . the best I ever felt was on the night of my titration . . . If a body/brain hasn't experienced a complete uninterrupted sleep cycle in years, the first time that happens may indeed make you wake up feeling like you are walking on sunshine the next day. That effect may not be reproducible in t...

Re: Doc told me most people aren't interested in data
Us vs. them may rarely be productive in a problem-solving negotiation, however I believe the underlying point from the dog in the tortilla is that it should always be malpractice when a doc prescribes something that could easily be verified as effective, but the doc, and the system, choose to be com...

Re: Depression? attn Kaiasgram
You may have spent years being chased every night by the giant lion of sleep-disordered breathing. That wasn't good for you, but it may have tended to, uh, sort of keep your energy level up, in a panic-stricken sort of way. Once you have the tool to keep that lion away (effective CPAP therapy), your...

Oops. Never mind. I just read this part: . . . finding "real people" . . . I am not actually "real." I'm only an "Internet personality." Which I think is another name for "troll," isn't it? I'll be on tour cross-country from June 26 to July 13 anyway. Hope I don't get altitude sickness driving over ...
