Defective machine?

Post by jbenenson » Tue Nov 30, 2010 4:07 pm

I have had my S9 Autoset for about a month and have experimented with different settings (thanks to this forum for how-to). I have found that regardless of what I do to change the SmartStart feature it remains grayed out. Have you other S9 Autoset owners been able to adjust it or is it inoperable in your machine too? If I have a defective machine I have only 23 months remaining to get a new one under warranty.

Is the option turned off in the clinician's menu? Do you have access to the clinician's menu???

Hi - this happened to me too...

I bet you have a full face mask or the mask selection is full face. The smartstart doesn't happen with a full face mask, only nasal or pillows (for whatever reason).

Thanks for your replies. I have the Clinician's Manual (that I downloaded from here) but I couldn't find anything relating to SmartStart and full face masks. I guess I'll have my S9 for a while.

The smart start will only work with nasal and pillows masks. If you have a fullface mask you can still set the mask type as nasal and the smart start should work. go into the clinical menu under the options tab and turn it on.
