Resmed S8 Auto Vantage (Auto titrating CPAP)

My just got an S8 Auto Cpap from my DME provider. They however gave me a Fisher and Paykel full face mask with it. They said it didn't matter what brand mask. I took them at their word and assumed it to be true.

I was reading the manual and it said that the auto titrating feature will not work correctly with any other mask but Resmed. Is this true? The F&P was was very comfortable but if my therapy is not working properly, the DME should have known that. Any feedback would be appreciated.

The ResMed Spirit like my older S7 Spirit has a mask selection feature that adjusts the algorithm for best treatment. Since only the ResMed masks curves are in the machine selection screen you would need to know what ResMed mask would closely match the F&P mask you are using and set the Spirit for the ResMed mask that closely matches the F&P mask. I hope that this is clear. A call made needed to be make with Fisher and Paykel on their opinion on using their masks with the Spirit. Someone here may have a good idea on the mask setting to use. The mask selection screen helps to fine tune the therapy on the Spirit Auto CPAP.

I use my S8 autoset with a PB breeze ... no problem it works just fine!

Just ignore those statements about what will or won't work, its just a statement to cover themselves. For example, the aura mask says you can't use it on an auto unit, and many on this site do - so go ahead and use the mask it should be fine.

bfreiser, did you get the user's manual with your machine?

I bet you didn't. Ask your DME for the manual and insist upon it, because it gives you all the information on how to use, lean and the pictures of all the ResMed masks.

You will need to look at the pictures of all the masks, then look at your mask, select the picture closest to your mask and put that selection in.

I use a Hans Rudolph Full Face Mask with my ResMed Auto Spirit.
