First night with hose management

Received one of the cheapo, travel hose 'buddys' yesterday. Was a cheap investment ($14 on ebay) to see if it would be value added. YEP. No more waking up to readjust the hose everytime I turn over, no more hose wrapped around my neck, no more adjusting the swivel on the mask against the pillow. Wel...

Re: Pissed about my brick: confront doctor? Or DME?

So I've been on here a few days, and I have a "brick" and I'm pissed. Especially since I lost my job and don't currently have insurance to go to my doctor for new sleep studies or even to have my machine tweaked, I also have no ability to self-monitor my progress. This is total garbage, man - my ma...

Re: Before Obamacare is very bad. After, don't ask.

All sarcasm aside Shelby, would you be this concerned if this was happening under Bush or didn't you have health insurance? If you don't want to to answer, that is fine but in my opinion, many who are opposing Obamacare are a bunch of hypocrites. Easy for you (speaking generally) to demonize a heal...

CPAP mask?? Fahhhgettaboudddit. You're far too busy and young for such things. You'll have plenty of time for sleep when you're dead .... at an early age ..... from heart failure caused by years of poor sleep and low O2 levels.

I'd def tell them you monitor your data. If they're a good, responsible DME, they may be glad; if they're shady, they may drop you.

Re: CPAP and needing less sleep?

I sleep 6-6.5hrs per night. You only need to avg 4hrs/night to be compliant. Sounds like they're more concerned you'll become non-compliant, dropped from ins coverage, then their cash cow dries up. (Ya, I know, I'm not cynical at all! )

Re: machines - rental or buy

I bought my machine because I the DME only leased machines, and it was cheaper in the long run to purchase a good machine with data logging vs leasing a brick. Bought a new S9 Auto for $799 at secondwind.

Re: owning machines?

After a DME told me their bill to my ins co for the first month was $850 (of which I pay 20%), I bought a machine on craigslist. A brick, prior to getting good advice here about getting a machine with data logging. Sold it for what I paid (netting a free comfortgel nasal mask and hose), and bought a...

Nasal Pillow Service Life

I've been using an Opus 360 for the last three months. No problem with leaks for the first couple months, but the last couple weeks they've gotten really bad. I made some headgear adjustments and the leaks decreased for a few nights. Sat night we were out of town for my wife's employer holiday party...

+1
Almost a let down taking off the mask in the morning, seems sooo much harder to breathe without it.

I did my own. Purchased my own equipment after telling the DME to pound sand when I saw their lease-only pricing structure.

Re: What are differences between Nasal Masks Nasal Pillows?

Pugsy, Thank you very much . Now, i think probably a Nasal Pillow is the best when it comes to reading books, watching TV and typing home work on a computer. Correct? mcpascaln Curious, why would a mask be worn while reading, watching TV or using a computer? My Opus 360 nasal pillow is similar to P...

Re: One Month on CPAP - Major Disappointment

Really doesn't sound like your initial problem was apnea. Many people with severe apnea work full time, raise kids, go to school, work a 2nd job, etc. They may be tired, but are still functional.

If you can't work 20hrs/wk, and your AHI is <5, something beyond apnea is going on.

They are using your personal relationship with your doctor to get information. Who are "they"? Have you considering wearing a tin-foil hat during the interview to prevent "them" from knowing your thoughts? The physician is not interested in specific information in the reply to the question (number ...

What machine, what pressure???
I have no exhale issue using pillows, my pressure is 6-11cm, using EPR 1 on an S9 Auto.
