Re: Have to fail overnight cpap sleep study??

Thanks so much for the advice. The sleep center has turned the case over to my Pulmonologist and she will handle it from here. You guys were right. Cpap handles my apnea perfectly. The bipap will be for my COPD and they will have to pay for it. win win. (so to speak, i guess) Thanks.

Have to fail overnight cpap sleep study??

Hi guys. Lots of new folks here since I was here last. I have a question for anyone that's been through this situation. I have stage 4 copd and bronchial asthma and overnight oxygen. I have used my cpap faithfully since 2006, can't sleep without it. My drs said that a bipap would really help me out ...

Re: Stinky Dirty Socks....Ewwww

Thanks everyone for your helpful replies. I know that if the water runs out then there is the smell. I do "top it off" until weekly clean day. Oh happy day on those days when I actually sleep so long without waking that the humidifier runs out of a full tank of water!! I guess what I was trying to a...

Stinky Dirty Socks....Ewwww

Hey guys, it's been awhile since I've been here, which is a very good thing, I think. It's also taken awhile to catch up on the reading. Lots of new names, sorry to see, and I mean that in the best way possible. I need you're help. A problem has developed that I just can't figure out. It's not major...

Re: One year on the new machine checkup today.

Oh my. Isn't it amazing how the written word can be so misunderstood? I was not clear, totally my fault in my explaining. I meant that my .1 score on my cpap was no better, meaning I wanted a 0, and no worse than it was 6 months ago. I have been on cpap for about 6 years, not sure can't remember. An...

Re: choking feeling explained

Thanks for the well wishes and it seems that they worked. No cancer or precancer. Taking Synthroid now. Hypothyroid. That explains that 30 pounds I've packed on. Good news is I've already lost 12 pounds since starting the meds. We're gonna try it for 3 months and if it doesn't work then out it comes.

Re: OSA and COPD: The Overlap Syndrome

I have asthma, COPD and, ofcourse, our favorite friend that we all have to talk about all of the time. I have found that my lungs are much better since the cpap came into my life, or rather, I sleep much better and it's easier for me to breathe at night. My asthma is under control but I have lots of...

Re: OSA - Low testosterone/Osteoporosis

According to the Endocrine Society’s clinical guidelines, certain men shouldn’t take testosterone supplements. Men with metastatic prostate cancer or breast cancer absolutely shouldn’t, because testosterone can stimulate these cancers to grow. Other conditions can potentially be made worse by testos...

choking feeling explained

I've been having some problems when I start to fall asleep. It's been happening for about 6 months or so and was getting worse. I couldn't figure it out because I haven't had any problems with my mask and machine. It was like I would gasp when I was first falling asleep. Kind of like my machine was ...

Yep, they've had them for a while now. I got my travel one on there about a year ago and my updraft machines too. They also have masks.

Re: Asthma & CPAP

I have had asthma for 30 years and COPD for 10. I have been on Cpap for almost 5 years. I have had my new machine for almost 1 year. Honestly, it helps me. When I am having problems, tightness and shortness of breath with my breathing, it makes it easier for me and SOMETIMES I can bypass using medic...

Re: OSA & Frequent urination during the night

Glad you found your problem! I was doing the same thing. Up all night to go to the bathroom. No more problems since I started my machine. Once I go to sleep, I stay that way.

To agadoresmama:

A nickname that I was given when I was throwing a temper tantrum one time. Mad Madam Mim, they all said. It just became Mimmie for short and has stuck around. (along with the temper unfortunately)
