Does a CPAP help with allergies?
Does a CPAP help with allergies?
I was wondering if the CPAP helped allergy sufferers by filtering the air before we take it in at night. Or maybe you can get a special filter that is more geared to reduce pollen and other allergens. Any thoughts on what machine or mask might be best for an allergy sufferer?
definite allergy improvement
Teradyn-
I have found that my allergies are much, much better breathing the filtered, humidified air all night. I use a RemstarAuto with the white pollen filter in place. However, I have never done a very good job of "allergy-proofing" my bedroom. You know-no carpet, wash bedding in hot once a week, no knick-knacks, vacuum daily, mattress sealed. So, the environment I was sleeping in was worse than it should have been. I am just at the end of fall allergy season now and have had little trouble all year. I even find I can tolerate allergans better during the day.
Good luck to you.

When I started CPap over a month ago, I really thought my allergies would be a lot better and maybe they are for some. However, lately, my nose does not stop running EVER, so it doesn't seem to be helping. I guess it is whatever I am exposed to all day long. Yesterday, I had to take a Zyrtec as the Claritin does nothing for me.
We are all different, but when I was using the integrated humidifier with my Remstar Auto, my nose ran all the time also (plus I sneezed a lot). But then I got a stand alone humidifier, which IMHO puts out a lot more humidity and heat, and I find I am much better. Not to say it would help you, but it certainly did improve things greatly for me.
