Re: It IS possible to find the perfect mask

You are spending your own money to find a suitable mask..You've now paid for several that you cannot use.......Why not go to a DME and pay the higher retail price, but get the 30 day guarantee. If the mask doesn't suit you exchange it for another. I'm sure you would have saved a lot of money. I'm s...

It IS possible to find the perfect mask

At my lowest I was using a full face mask with a non-Rx MAD, mouth tape and a chin strap - all at the same time - and my numbers still were marginal. I got a glimpse of myself in the bathroom mirror in the middle of the night and was really discouraged. This just didn't seem sustainable. So I starte...

Re: Trying Dental Appliance?

I've thought of trying a non-prescription MAD along with CPAP myself. Please let us know what you learn. I know my APAP pressure goes down when I sleep on my side and I assume it is because my jaw doesn't fall back. It might be a good trade-off for a lower pressure.

Re: ?Exhale Puff Index of 31 with full face mask and mouth tape?

I find myself dreaming of the perfect mask. I have some great ideas. Just need a few million for product development. It would start with digitally mapping each face and producing a custom frame with replaceable cushioned seals (at a reasonable price). It's always good to dream, and great things ha...

Re: ?Exhale Puff Index of 31 with full face mask and mouth tape?

Are you using the smartflex with the Swift. It might help with the cheek puffs. Yes, I use the SmartFlex at 3. I love it. It's the reason I fought for a better machine. Thanks for all the suggestions. I guess I'll go back to the Swift with mouth tape for now and try my new CPAP.com elastic chinstra...

Re: ?Exhale Puff Index of 31 with full face mask and mouth tape?

Thanks. I may have to give up on my Quatro. Short of caulking it to my face, I think I've exhausted my fixes. This morning my AHI is back up to 8 and my EPI is still 31 I've already tried changing size. Any tighter and I'll get gangreen on my face. I like the Swift nasal cushions but can't seem to ...

Re: ?Exhale Puff Index of 31 with full face mask and mouth tape?

My understanding of EPI is that you return less air to the machine than it gave to you (less mask vent of course) Leak rate, on the other hand, is a constant drop in pressure that the machine tries to make up by increasing motor RPM. So with 0 leaks and taped mouth and FFM I can only think that you...

?Exhale Puff Index of 31 with full face mask and mouth tape?

I finally have my AHI down to 3, NRI of 1 with zero leaks but my EPI is up to 31. I swear my lips are sealed. I can't blow out deliberately. I only have the built-in code on my IntelliPap. Any ideas?

Re: I've got to laugh about this now

ok so I'm a newbie but could you please tell me what Pur-sleep is?? Thanks in advance.... Pur-Sleep is a line of aromatherapy oils that can be used near the air intake of your CPAP to make it a bit more pleasant. If you don't have a sensitivity to fragrances it can be relaxing and some can be used ...

Re: I've got to laugh about this now

After being on CPAP for several years at a pressure of 12cm, I started having trouble. I did the following trying to fix it. 1. raised pressure from 12 to 14 2. raised pressure from 14 to 15 3. bought a new APAP machine 4. got the software and reader so I could see what was going on 5. added a humi...

Re: Sleep Position Dilemma

Electrolyte and mineral imbalance in the body can often result in muscle cramps. You may want to review your diet to make sure you are balanced in this area. Magnesium rich foods, or supplements, often make the cramps go away. Ok - so it's not just me. My doctor prescribed extra magnesium for me ab...

Re: Need help finding a mask that fits

Hi all, I'm new to cpaptalk and I'd love to hear everyone's advice on what the best way is to find the proper fit for a mask. I wish I could try them on before purchasing them since I'm having trouble finding one that fit's comfortably on my face. Can anyone recommend the best way to find the right...
