This thread has me thinking - not only about how long my apneas are now with pap, but how long my longest was during my initial study. Don't know how it compares to others - or if it was as long as it sounds to me. It was 58 seconds. average was in the 30's.
SInce I have an M Series, I can't tell how long they were. THe best is to get an average from the time in apnea and the number of apneas during that day.

Re: Longest Apnea?
Yes, that is the best that can be done, but it should be done (1) recognizing that the "total time in apnea per day" figure which is reported is beset with potential problems, as I outlined in my previous post, and (2) being careful to COMPUTE the number of apneas (by multiplying the AI by the hours of use - expressed as decimal) rather than simply counting tick marks (since the resolution of the graphics often does not allow distinguishing two events during adjacent 30-second windows).2flamingos wrote:SInce I have an M Series, I can't tell how long they were. Re: Longest Apnea?
Since some of our most respected resident experts have joined this thread, perhaps I can get a related question answered.
My apnea events average about 0.5 per night. For the past three nights, for example, I had two nights without any apneas, and two apneas one night. The events last from 8 to 13 seconds, and I have never had more than two in one night (in the two months I've been monitoring). I am curious to know if they are central apnea events, as they are never clustered. If there are two events, they are separated by hours. They are not related to leaks and there is no significant pressure change immediately before or after the events. I should also mention that they seem to occur at or close to my median pressure and seem to happen at totally random times, unrelated to REM sleep.
I'm not concerned, just curious if the data I have can shed some light on the cause.
